I bought a new battery and just put it in my Fossil watch. Now I can't get the back put back on. It's maddening! When I look online, it keeps mentioning needing all of these special tools. Any hints or am I really going to have to take it somewhere and have them do it?

I never change my own watch batteries anymore. I've decided it's just not worth it. And Fossils seem to be particularly difficult.
True story: my dad gave me a Fossil watch as a Christmas present, many years ago. I was a teenager, or maybe in college at the most. At one point, the battery died and my XH (we were married at the time) said, "No problem! You don't need to take it anywhere, I'll change it." So I let him. I don't know what the fuck he did, but he screwed it up so badly that I ended up taking it to a jeweler and paying more than the watch was worth to have the entire works replaced because that was the only way to fix it, and the fact that it was a gift from my dad meant I was getting it fixed no matter what.
I haven't let anyone but a professional touch my watch batteries since.
