My boss never NEVER closes my office. He is a great boss, awesome, totally respect and admire him. But he is so up here {waves hands high} that he doesn't ever think about doing stuff like that. And if we approach him about it he waves it off and is all "It's not even going to snow".
SIGH so frustrating.
Also, I'm NOT important in the world of important jobs. We are about as non-essential as not-essential gets.
That sucks. My ability to work from home is a blessing and a curse. A blessing because, obviously, it's so nice to have that flexibility when I need it. A curse because I don't get snow days anymore! I just get work from home days, unless of course the power goes out.
I hope you're able to leave early or something tomorrow. The evening commute sounds like it's going to be a disaster.

Oh man. That sucks. I've worked for a company like that. My first day of work there was 9/11 and everyone worked a full day. It was freaky.
I asked Dave if he was working from home and he can't because they have a team lunch scheduled for tomorrow. Every single one of them can work remotely but they're all going in for a freaking lunch. It's just baffling.
Oh of the joys of working in healthcare, my company will likely not close. But our boss has given permission for those already set up to work from home to do so, I'm not set up to work from home, guess I need to get on that for the next storm. I'm thinking I'll go in but then leave early tomorrow.

I work in a doctor's office and we've already moved all our afternoon patients to the morning, with the plan of closing at noon. A good amount of patients had already called to cancel anyway. They're good here about closing in bad weather, the doctors all drive a considerable distance to get here and don't want to be on the roads in bad weather either. So at least a half day tomorrow, woo hoo!
I have to go to work, even though I can work from home very easily. I am new, but everyone is saying we will prob be told to go home once it starts getting bad. Which means I will prob be on 95 north for hours getting home. Awesome.

I feel you, I work right at the split so going rt 3 south will be a nightmare (since 95, 93 will be backed up), as will be taking backroads. SIGH SIGH SIGH
Ugh, that is the worst. I once worked for this history museum with an office in Beacon Hill, and I lived on the North Shore at the time. That was a really snowy winter, and we had a bunch of storms where Menino would implore employers to let people work from home, close, etc.
The president used to go office to office to count heads and wouldn't let anyone work from home. Anyone who didn't come in had to take a vacation day. It was the most ridiculous thing ever, considering that our work was completely non-essential and could all be done remotely.

Look up the back roads today and try going home that way. If traffic looks like it is bad when you are leaving tomorrow you will already have a alternate route.

That's a good idea. I work in Watertown and take back roads through Belmont to rt 2 then 95 but I could prob avoid the highways altogether if I find a route through Arlington and Lexington.
