I don't think that is crochety. It was 2am and you had to go to work! We live in a condo and have neighbors on the sides of us, and a few weeks ago one neighbor and their teenage daughter were fighting until 2am and I ended up banging on the wall to get the to STFU. Don't feel like an asshole:)

That is why H and I didn't buy a two family. I just don't think I could handle that. And that is absurd that they were being that loud on a Thursday.

I would be a terrible neighbor if I had to live in an apartment. Especially since I'm nocturnal. I would be noisy at night, but expect everyone else to be quiet for me during the day.

The apartment above us has a teenager. Normally it's not a problem, but yesterday with no school she had a bunch of friends over and nap time for DS was a totally disaster I can't wait to move! I'll join you on the old lady bench...
