I'm 25 and Dh is 28. TTC since August 2011. As far as we know we are both healthy and I have regular cycles. Saw my PCP 2 weeks ago and she did bloodwork that is "perfect" so she sent us off to the RE. We see her on Tuesday.
i guess I am just wondering what we should expect. I know they do an evaluation cycle but I am not exactly sure what that entails.
Any info/advice/ words of wisdom would be appreciated. Thanks!
Welcome! We've been trying since Oct 2011, so we're close
We just started with the RE this month too. So far, I've had extensive blood work, just to rule out any medical condition that might affect fertility (glucose, thyroid, etc). I had an HSG yesterday to check for clear uterus and tubes, and my husband had a semen analysis done. We take all this info to the RE this week, and find out what to do from here. I know others have done specific cycle day blood testing, so that's a possibility too.
I don't have much advice, other than to try to enjoy your child-free time while you have it. This journey often sucks, big time, and I'll be damned if I won't at least enjoy drinking, sushi, and sleeping in. This is a good group to hang out with.
Thanks! Yeah the bloodwork they did included thyroid, hormone levels, glucose etc and it looked good to the PCP but we will have to see what the RE says.
I hear you on the sleeping in. When I am lounging in bed in the morning I often think about how I won't be able to do that forever. Guess I'll enjoy it while I can.
We started with the RE in December. MH had 2 SA, bloodwork (including a genetic panel and karyotyping), a consult with a reproductive urologist, and the urologist has recommended he also consult with a genetic specialist.
I had an internal ultrasound during our initial consult, CD3 blood work, and a HSG. I had been charting and using OPKs while we were TTC and those showed that I regularly ovulate - if your RE has questions about whether you ovulate you may also need a clomid challenge test and/or additional bloodwork/ultrasounds later in your cycle.
Best of luck to you both, I hope your journey is a short one! It can be an emotional and sometimes scary process, but this group of ladies is amazing! So ask away and vent when you need to!

Hi and welcome. We've recently started with the RE and so far I've had CD3 blood work, will have CD21/7DPO blood work done tomorrow, DH goes in this week for an SA. I've already had 2 diagnostic U/S where the second one actually showed that I had JUST O'd. I know from others that docs always ask for at least 1 cycle, but preferably at least 3 cycles of temp charts, so if you haven't started charting, you might as well start now. Next step for me will be HSG.
Thanks! Yeah the bloodwork they did included thyroid, hormone levels, glucose etc and it looked good to the PCP but we will have to see what the RE says.

I agree with what everyone else has said, but I want to add that my RE saw things in the b/w what my gyno did not. I actually brought all my b/w and testing from my gyno to my RE and so he was looking at the same numbers she had.
