you are just too lazy to actually make it.
I would love to have a meatball sandwich, corn muffins, apple pie, or chocolate cake with vanilla frosting right now. I could make it but I am so lazy. I wish I was back home right now so that my parents could spoil me.
I have so many great memories of my parents making food and desserts for me that I wish I was a kid again..
When you have a craving for something, do you actually make it or are you lazy like me?
It depends on how long I have been thinking about it and salivating at the thought of it! If it's just a day or two, I usually let it pass. But there are certain foods I crave fiercely at times, and then it needs to be dealt with!
Sometimes i take a shortcut though and just look for something with similar flavors. For example, to make a lazy apple pie, I'd probably just slice up and apple and cook it with a little butter, sugar and cinnamon. I realize there's no pie part, but I'm usually not much for pie crust anyway.
I usually make it, or like tktravels said, some sort of lazy substitute. Especially when I'm alone. DH is gone for three weeks so I've been indulging a lot of different tastes. Usually things he would object too : ).
I do this. Very often. Wish I could have something and then not make it.
But it was way worse when I lived with my parents. They don't cook (hardly at all) and I'd want something to eat and be too lazy to make it and end up munching on chips because they were always around. We don't always buy chips so if I want something I almost always have to do some amount of prep work -- if only for a salad or something.

I always enjoy the first few days that H is traveling because I can make things that he won't eat or wouldn't approve of.
His mom is a great cook, and he grew up without eating processed foods. Growing up in my house, on the other hand, was filled with processed foods, and my mom did not cook much at all (unless a box of hamburger helper + browning the beef counts).
Anyway, I find now that I crave things like Spaghetti-O's or mac and cheese (like the Kraft Dinner variety), and DH wants nothing to do with foods like these.
I have not been able to find either of these delicacies here in Poland, but thankfully the internet has some very good copy cat recipes!
I live with the food police, so when I get to be home alone, I eat everything prohibited I enjoy cereal for dinner, pizza delivery and sometimes I even eat little donut holes. Then I dispose of the packaging secretly.

LOL that's funny
All my cravings require a trip somewhere so I try to at least keep chocolate, ice cream and popcorn handy at all times, in case I get them in the middle of the night or something.

The stuff I find myself craving can't really be made. Like last week I was dying for some Libby's Corned Beef Hash with fried eggs. sure I can make Corned beef Hash, but it isn't nearly as "awful" as the canned stuff.
I thought of one thing I almost always make when I crave it -- salsa and guacamole, chocolate milkshakes. Mmmm.
But those are so simple they don't count!
I doesn't matter if they're simple. It's satisfying the craving that matters. For dinner the other night I (finally) found orange sweet potatoes at the grocery store (they usually have some sort of white root that is NOT the same). I poked a few holes in 'em and threw them in the oven. Lovely.
Yep, all the time. I've been on a Pinterest craze so if I can find an easy recipe there or by Googling and I have enough time, I'll get the ingredients and make it. I've been a bit sheepish though ever since I had a disaster with eggplant parmesan (the recipe's fault, it gave a method of brining eggplants that made the whole thing too salty). Since then, I been a bit afraid of being adventurous with cooking, and therefore I've been lazy, but I am sure that I will again soon.
Like clogged, I usually just make it (provided I have the ingredients/can easily get them). DH has been known to come home to 3 different cakes because I couldn't decide what I craved most and just made all (in the 2 to 3 hours between when I get home and he gets home from work.)

Can I marry you? Seriously, your DH comes home to 3 cakes??? Does he know how lucky he is?
