Is this recommendable? Presumably it won't be hot given that it's Scotland.
I just got an invite to join my teacher for a series of workshops up there at the end of August. I'll be in Europe still at that point so it seems doable.
I haven't been since I was tiny so I remember nothing of Scotland. Is this a good place to spend money to visit?
Pssh, "hot" and "Edinburgh" do not go in the same sentence together. It might rain constantly, but it won't be hot. If it doesn't rain the weather will be perfect.
Since it's June already it might be impossible to find accommodation for August. Like PP said the Fringe makes it crazy. Crazy! Book your restaurants every night in advance, otherwise you won't get a seat (not just on the touristy Royal Mile, everywhere). The number of people in Edinburgh doubles in August, if not more.
I will add this for anybody who attends the Fringe: The 2 days before the official start of the festival they do cheap and free shows. Go to the main area of the event (I'm forgetting its name) and there are people giving out free or £5 tickets. I saw a bunch of shows for cheap, and it was a good way to discover lots of different stuff you wouldn't seek out on your own.
Ugh. I'm not even GOING there for the Fringe!!! I'm going for a yoga event which apparently is at the same time. Now I'm not sure--but my teacher specifically invited me which means she actually wants me to go.
