Is anyone aware of a pooper scooper that is light enough to carry on walks, or runs, either in hand, or fanny pouch type of thing?
We are bringing our puppy home Monday (after getting fixed at the shelter). It's 7 weeks, so we won't be doing walks right away, but DH is insistent on getting a scooper he can carry rather than just using a bag over his hand. My mom uses a garden trowel for scooping in her backyard, so I figured if all else fails I'll hand him a garden trowel, but was wondering if there is anything specific that would work better.
The pup is a Rottweiler German shepherd mix (at least that's what they tell us) so we expect the poops to get medium to large.
I use these bags and little dispenser. It's super handy, clips onto the leash, and really easy to refill. And it's often cheaper in the baby section than in the pet aisle. Congrats on your new addition!
Oops, I just saw that your H doesn't want the bag thing. But I still stand by my suggestion. I don't think I'd be carrying around a garden trowel once puppy gets bigger and you are actually walking further.
I'm late to the party, but we use the PetCo bag dispenser that attaches to the handle of the leash. You never have to touch the poo, you can tie up the bag, and since I live in a city, I can usually quickly toss the bag in a public trash can. I can see using a shovel of some sort for your yard (so as not to waste a ton of bags), but does YH really want to have to carry a trowel/shovel covered in poop while he walks the dog?

Maybe he can wear something like a gardening glove if hes grossed out by the warmth of the poop through the bag. That would be way less bulky to carry around than a scooper
