I was hoping someone could help me who has a list of drugs approved by their doctor. My doctor here in Spain didn't give me a handy list or seem to care what I was taking and the pharmacists are no help (they don't know whether a pregnant woman should have this/that drug).
Maybe a months ago I went off all my meds being pregnant and all. I was taking Singular 10mg daily for my allergies. I am allergic to grass, trees, dust, mold, dogs, cats, etc (all environmental allergies). Since going off my allergy meds I have been miserable, I have gone thru 3 kleenex boxes in 3 days.
I have a few allergy meds that were over the counter that I brought from the States...can someone tell me if either are on their approved list?
I just started back on Zyrtec and took a few Sudafeds when I was really sick. I know Benedryl is ok and I also take Atarax/Visteril as a anxiety med but it is also an antihistamine. Good luck to you! My allergies have been worse than normal during this pregnancy and I feel your pain

Zyrtec or Claritin (not the D)
Thanks!
I have pretty bad allergies and the only thing that worked for me was Singulair. Both my allergist and my OB approved it for use while pregnant (it is a Class B medication, meaning that there has been no proven risk, but no controlled studies have been done). If Singulair has been working for you, you may want to get a second opinion from an allergist or another, more helpful, OB.
Zyrtec, benadryl and claritin were okay'd by my doc.
Same here.
My allergies are controlled well with zyrtec so I don't know about anything stronger like Singulair, but she specifically mentioned Zyrtec (not -D), Claritin (not -D), and Benadryl.

Zyrtec was approved. I did use chloraseptic allergen block (http://www.amazon.com/Chloraseptic-Allergen-Block-Gel-Pack/dp/B004B4R4KU) when pg and it worked GREAT!

I have really bad allergies too, so I feel your pain.
My allergist said Claritin, Zyrtec, & Benedryl are the "preferred" ones, as in Category B. However, Claritin & Zyrtec do not work for me at all, so he okayed going back to Allegra, which is Category C.
I also take Symbicort for my asthma as a maintenance inhaler - he switched me to that one during pregnancy b/c the Category was better than my previous one.
Most of the allergy related nasal sprays are okay too - Flonase, Patanase, & the like.
My advice would be to take the least amount & best category meds you can get away with.
