I am so freaking happy that C went back to school today. Until last night they were saying not until Thursday. Then the call came last night that schools were open today!
FI and I are celebrating Valentines Day tonight as he'll be working tomorrow. He braved MB and will be cooking me dinner and dessert, which is actually pretty rare, even though he is a chef. We're also opening a bottle of Moet we got as an engagement gift over a year ago, yumm!
liveintheville: That's great! Was C excited to go back to school?
vtdiamond: Thank you! Have fun tonight! (I just saw your update. Your dinner sounds delicious.)
He was and he wasn't. He loves school but was sad about not sledding today.
Ugh. I hope you don't get it, but that's the cold I've had for 2 weeks. Dave, being the sissy he is, went to the dr for it on Monday. He got rx cough medicine I've been stealing.

Well, I'm sure having him back at school is a nice break for you. Sledding sounds like fun, though! I haven't done that in ages.
Yikes. That cold sounds miserable. Are you feeling any better?
I agree, we've been too slow this week! I've been so busy though that I haven't had a chance to start any threads myself. And I'm so tired/sleepy lately--ugh.
I hate when things are super busy all day at work and yet at the end of the day I feel like I got nothing done. Does anyone know what I mean?
I have been really busy, too. I'm not sure if it's the cause for you, but I think the weather is making people drowsy. That reminds me, I need to get my vitamin D levels checked again. I was horribly deficient a couple months ago, so I started taking prescription-strength supplements, which seem to have lessened my fatigue.
I am SLAMMED with freelance work, trying to coordinate a work trip to Dallas soon, and my mom is spending her 11th day in the hospital. it's crazy around here people!

Hmm, that's a good point, could very well be the weather. Although I will say that I'm LOVING how it's staying light for longer now. I started noticing the longer days a couple of weeks ago and it really helps with my self-diagnosed case of mild SAD.
I love the longer days, too. I can't wait until it warms up and we have even more hours of sunshine.

You have a lot on your plate! I hope your mom is okay. That's a long hospital stay.
My random is that I worked a client dinner seminar last night at a hotel on the waterfront and unknowingly it was the same hotel where my old company was holding their sales meeting and I ran into about 40 people I used to work with including my asshole ex boss. I relished being able to tell him how much happier I am and how i quixkly landed a great new job. (Background is I quit without a new job over the summer because he made my life hell and he thought I was crazy to not have another job lined up). It was both a strange encounter and also awesome to show him how well I am doing.

Me too. My dad had a complete freakout about all the things going wrong with her right now. So I'm heading to CA next week Let's hope it's to entertain her after she feels better.

I'm sorry, Dr. L. I will be thinking of you and your family.

I hope your mom's health improves soon. Long hospital stays are tough on everyone.

We are in the middle of our corporate audit busy season which translates into 12 hour days minimum 6 or 7 days a week. Add that to a 3 hour daily commute and I want to crawl into a hole so bad. And to answer your question from the inro post, most of the accoutants I know do corporate, but I'll keep my ears open for a good personal accountant recommendation!!
Dr. L sorry about your mom, I hope she feels better soon!!
I have a confession I need to get out. I ordered GS cookies from my coworker's daughter and he brought them in last Thursday. I bought three boxes. I have been in the office four days since then, and I have three cookies left.
HOWEVER, today I had to buy new jeans because the ones I am wearing are way too big. So I don't feel too guilty. Just a little guilty.

Were there Thin Mints involved, pinkroses? If so, they come in those convenient single-serving sleeves, so it's really not so bad. My husband ate almost all of my Tagalongs a couple of weeks ago, and I haven't been able to replace them yet. I got 3 out of the whole box. Three! I am still cranky about this.
I've started having stress dreams about the summer program already. It doesn't start until June. I am so tired and so burnt out on my job right now, and I'm finding that I can't hide it anymore. The other day, Big Boss Lady complimented my sweater, and said something about how it's on trend right now. I said, "oh, I bought this at Frugal Fannies, so it was probably on trend 4 years ago, and it just came back around again." And after I walked away, I thought, "Hmm. Probably not the best response to BBL." But I don't even care anymore.

LOL! It was the oatmeal pb sandwiches, tagalongs, and samoas/caramel de lites. I was eating the oatmeal pb ones for breakfast, because it's oatmeal, right?
I left my cookies in the office because if I bring tagalongs home they are gone within two hours thanks to my H. They are his biggest weakness. So I feel you on the crankiness.
Sorry, Rock, my post came out a little like a bragplaint. My two randoms just happened to contradict.

I feel like there used to be WAY MORE cookies in those boxes. The prices haven't gone up in a long time, (they've been 4 bucks for a few years now), so I think they cut down on the number of cookies per box.
So really, all of these confessions would have been much worse a few years ago. (Does that help?)
And all of this cookie talk makes me miss the days when my mom worked for the GS. They used to sell the leftovers for $1/box at the end of the sale, so we'd always buy some extras and freeze them. There are few things more awesome than stumbling across a box of frozen Thin Mints in July, heh.
My mom was the cookie mom. We got (although I think she just bought them cause she was too lazy to try to sell) all the extras. One year we had almost 100 boxes in out freezer.
How do I get in on this??? There's some kind of Girl Scout office near my house, I might have to stop by there and see if they do this!
You could call them and see if they have a leftovers sale. The council she worked for had the store in their main office, so that's where they ended up. But this was also when I was in high school/college, so it's 20+ (yikes!) years ago.

Shhhhh...we are not hold enough to say things like "20+ years ago." That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
Ha! I think I've said this before, but I still think the 90s were 10 years ago, not 20. And the good news is that I am a lost alumna for my high school, so I won't even get the invite for our 20th reunion this fall. I can keep living in denial!
A guy in my office is selling them for his daughter. I bought two boxes of the caramel delights and one box was gone before the end of the work day. Dangerous!
