I finally finished Captain Corelli's Mandolin (definitely a 5* book and very much worth the time) and am four chapters from finishing The Big Cat Nap. After that, I am not sure if I'll read Sneaky Pie for President or the next-in-series China Bayles mystery, Wormwood (yes, I'm behind a bit.)
Following Atticus by Tom Ryan, a travel-memoir about a man who hikes the White Mountains in New England with his miniature schnauzer. It's enjoyable and interesting, particularly if you're a dog person. It's a little more memoir and less travel than I was expecting, but I haven't decided yet if that's good or bad.
I just finished After the Fog by Kathleen Shoop, which was nothing great. I'm starting Roses in Ecuador by Heather Huffman and so far it's much better.
I just finished Cutting for Stone and I don't know how I feel about it. It was well written and compelling. But I'm not sure I liked what it had to say. Especially about women.
Reading Candyfreak for my bookclub. Not really getting into it and am sort of skipping to the end.

I just finished Plum Spooky and The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. I am currently reading Finger Lickin Fifteen. Trying to finish up the Stephanie Plum series. I'm also reading The Highlander's Hope on Kindle. Didn't have too many expectations for it since I don't read romance too much and it was free but I've been pleasantly surprised with how entertaining it has been.

I'm late to this post as usual. Sorry!
I'm about halfway through The Light Between Oceans by M.L. Stedman. I don't know how I feel about it. The subject matter is pretty sad although I like reading about what life on Janus was like. I guess I'll have to see where the ending goes before deciding whether I truly like the characters or not.

I liked the writing, but I disliked all the characters by the end.

I think this is where I'm headed. I think the book is well written but I honestly can't think of one character that I like at this point.

I had similar thoughts about Cutting for Stone. Well-written and powerful in a lot of ways, but leaving me feeling a little conflicted in the end.
I am reading People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks. It reminds me a lot of Michener's The Source but better written and much shorter. I'm trying to guess whether there will be more tie-in between the individual stories at the end.
