Pecorino Romano cheese

I tried this recipe tonight.

I've never had pecorino Romano cheese before. I tried some while the pasta was in the oven and it was very salty with a sharp taste. There is also a distinct smell. I can't tell if it's bad because I had some candles lit.  Do you guys think it smells? The taste is pretty good but I don't want to be that obnoxious person that heats up her stinky lunch in the office microwave.

I don't think its smell is any more distinctive than Parmesan or Asiago. I love it, personally, and I don't do stinky cheeses at all.
