Took kittyface to the vet lastnight She really wasn't feeling good, you could tell--when the vet left the room after checking her over she didn't sniff around or look for a place to hide like she normally would. The vet said that given what I told him about how she was eating/drinking normally but the amount of her urine had decreased considerably, she was probably at or very near end stage kidney disease. So we had her put down last night. She went peacefully (thank God).
I held it together until I got home with her. The receptionist at the vet's office didn't handle it well though :-(

I'll have to see if I can dig some pictures up.
Her name was helen yellow toe. She was a quiet kitty and she would only come out at night after we first got her. One of us would wake up to a tiny kitten nose two inches from our face. If she she knew you were awake after, she'd force you to pet her--the snot would know when you were faking and headbutt your hand until it was on top of her head. She did it so much that DH would pet her in his sleep.
She like to give us presents, we spent a week waking up to toy mice on the bed--on Monday there was one mousie, by Friday we had all five on our bed in the morning. She once left one for DD when she was a baby, DD was crying in her swing and helen tried to make her feel better by giving her a present.
She's up on catster, if the site's still active I'll see if I can post a picture.

This is the only picture I could find on short notice, we'd had her for about a year--and that hairy arm is DH's, not mine . I need to find the one of her in the chicken hat.

She was tiny and round. DH thought she was cute at the rescue, but once she started licking his hand he was smitten. She never really meowed until we moved into our house.
She terrified the dog with her feral kitty growl (the one that's so low you can barely hear it).
I am going to an instructor conference after work as part of the admin team to answer questions, and instead of giving me overtime, I am coming in to work late instead. I have another glorious hour and a half until I have to go in.
One of my old friends and I were chatting on facebook. She is moving to Texas in June, so we'll have a few months of overlap in MN before she goes. She is an INCREDIBLE singer and will be leaving a soloist position in a good church choir when she leaves. She wants to recommend me to replace her! YAY! It's a lower range than I would like (she's alto I, I'm a soprano), but dude. I'd get paid to sing, and be in a choir again. Score.

Surgery date is set for Petite Fleur. And my friend's mom sent her a new friend. She took an existing doll and added a g-tube to it. I'm going to give it to Petite Fleur when we go to the hospital. She won't understand now, but at some point she will and it'll be nice for her to have a friend like her.
We have to replace the floors in our kitchen and family room ASAP. They are wood, the same in both rooms. Over the summer they were buckling and splitting and now that it is so dry, they are splitting in new places. We were hoping to just refinish them but now that won't work. I'm dreading the project aspect of the whole thing. H wants to redo the kitchen at the same time. We've been living with this white and brass monstrosity so long I think I've gotten to used it. I can't even imagine a shiny new kitchen.

This is a great idea! One of the moms in our casting/ET support group owns a company that will put a cast on the stuffed animal of your choice (it could be your kids favorite or one you buy). The kids love it because they have a buddy with the same turtle shell as theirs.
It may also help you guys explain the things you'll be doing with her g-tube. She can help take care of her doll's g-tube.

cuddlyevil, I'm sorry that you had to make that appointment, but you absolutely did the right thing. your kitty sounds a lot like my late kitty... Except he would head butt your face instead of your hand. I miss him still, and it's been almost 4 years since he passed.
gault, that is amazing news! I miss singing in a choir too sometimes, and to get paid to do it would be a dream come true for me too!!
dixie, I love the doll idea! PF's going to find it so comforting to have a doll just like her, and I think it's going to make a huge difference in how she handles everything!

I scored a jersey knit blazer off of a clearance rack. I wore it to work on Monday and my boss came in to ask me how long I've been dieting and how much weight I've lost. It was definitely a nice pick me up. Although I haven't been dieting and I'm pretty certain I haven't lost any weight. It was nice of him to say though.
I have been approached with a last last last minute project in which I need to do mindless data entry and create student profiles for 130 students. By the end of the day, which will be at 4:30. yeehaw!
