Reading this (high quality journalism lol) www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2154147/Just-25-beautiful--So-did-cosmetic-surgeon-tell-India-needs-Botox.html , I was reminded that several of my 24-29 yo classmates regularly get Botox and microdermabrasion and other things I don't know enough about to remember. I was stunned when I heard. Do you? Do your friends? I'm 30 and the most I do is an at-home fruit acid peel...it never even occurred to me to do more. WDYT about doing procedures in your 20s?
No. The only person I know that does anything remotely like that to her skin is my sister. But she has severe acne issues so she does some sort of chemical peel/treatment thing at the derm.
I see why people do it but it's not for me. I don't think it's all that healthy or good for you unless there's a valid medical reason behind it.
Granted I'll admit to be lucky and having great skin as a result of genetics probably. However, I feel like the more you do to your skin a) the worse it makes it or b) the more you have to keep doing it. For me and my skin simple is better.

Jealous of your great skin. I have super sensitive skin and rocacea. I have only myself to blame. I have put my skin through hell. As a teenager during the summer I would be at our local pool sunbathing from 12-5 EVERY.SINGLE.SUNNY.DAY and I rarely ever put sunscreen on my face. During the winter months I would use the tanning bed several times a week. I was CRAZY! I wish my mother would've stopped me or taught me better but she was a tanner as well.
And now I hate my skin. If I could do it over I would be so much smarter about what I was doing to my skin especially my face. My niece never goes out in the sun and she has beautiful skin. I just think perhaps mine might've turned out that way if I wasn't such an idiot when I was younger.
I turn 25 in a week and I use botox... wouldn't for cosmetic reasons, when it is just after a treatment the whole forehead-not-emoting-for-a-week thing is creepy as hell! I get it for migraines, so most of the treatment that shows up visibly is the forehead - the rest is temples and back of the head/neck. Now I spend my life no longer being able to do the sarcastic eyebrow raise... it kills me.
Now, I would consider microdermabrasion if it would help my acne and I cared enough to budget for spa treatments, but I don't so much.
I'm 27 and I have friends that have done it since we were 23. I haven't tried it yet, but I will when I feel like I need it. I do microdermabrasion like a fiend, though.
A friend of mine is a Dr. who uses Botox regularly for her patients, so it's available if I wanted it, but I don't need it as I do not have any wrinkles (I'm 28). I wouldn't rule it out in the future though.
I do! But I'm 42. A lot of my friends do too. The earliest one started around 32-33. I started around age 35-36. I've never done it super regularly because of the cost, but I've had it done 2-3 times a year for the last few years.
I also had Juvederm last year for the creases that go from the sides of the nose to the sides of your mouth. My mom and my sisters all have them pretty deep. It made a huge, but very subtle, natural change. Love it.
If I could do things over, I'd have spent WAY less time in the sun and WAY more time putting sunscreen on. These "fixes" are frigging expensive.
Oh, and I think the only reason to start doing it in your 20's would be if you have very strong expression lines that will create permanent wrinkles prematurely (and that bother you, obviously). Botox is very preventative, so the earlier you start, the less the wrinkles will form. I didn't start seeing wrinkles that bothered me until around age 35.

As an almost 41 year old woman who swore up and down I'd never Botox, I wouldn't rule it out. I don't have any wrinkles at all right now, but I know they are there lurking waiting to pop out.
I am 55 and don't do botox, nor do my friends. My daughter is 32, and just can't fathom she or her friends getting botox, but her son goes to a private preschool with plenty of moms who have all kinds of work done. I think she calls them "expressionless Barbies." lol
I am pretty lucky in the heredity arena, and do at home type skin care...pretty normal stuff, and I don't see any botox or anything like that in my future. I am very expressive with my face, and can't imagine not being able to raise an eyebrow, furrow a brow, smile, etc.....it is very much part of who I am. There are even certain expressions that are hereditary...expressions that my dad, my brother and I and our kids and my sister's son all make exactly the same way. It would be so sad to not see that connection any more.
I happen to think that there is nothing wrong with keeping it real. As vain as I am, (and I am), I would still rather have a few lines and crows feet than look like I was manufactured by Mattel.
Yikes, I can't believe people in 20s are getting these done! I am 35+ and haven't even started but that's probably because I am genetically blessed. Usually so far most people say I look ten yours younger than I really am. I have always been anti-botox and I think I am starting to change my mind. I am starting to see the "parenthesis" on my face and squint lines between the brows. I am going to see a dermatologist and see whats going on with my face! Even now I still break out when AF arrives! So irritating!
ETA: I had one friend that used botox but she was same old as I am. None of my current friends use any that I know of.
Nope. I'll be 28 this year (and I just had an "omg I'm how old?!" moment) and I don't think any of my friends who are my age pass for 25, so I can't imagine any of them get botox or anything yet. (I'm 5'1" so I'll probably look old enough to drink in about... 4 years? I told someone I was 27 the other day -- the lady who was about to give me my first massage -- and she actually thought I was kidding.)

I'm in my 30s and I honestly don't see myself even considering cosmetic "improvement" with chemicals and such. I just feel like at some point in the future they'll be all "OMG - Botox has long-term side effects" and I'll be happy I didn't.
I intent to age either gracefully or not gracefully, depending on how you define it. Naturally, at the very least.
I'll be 29 in 2 weeks (when did that happen?) and haven't done anything. I am thinking about a chemical peel just because my skin looks trashy since going off BC, but no botox or anything. I don't have any friends my age who've done more than facials, peels, etc.
41 here and i've never had it done. i have a friend back in NC that had it dones, but none of my friends here have or would do it. my dh has talked about it (but i think it is more b/c i am so much younger than he is....he doesn't need it, though, everyone estimates him at 10-15 years younger than he is).
i have been extremely fair all my life and couldn't tan to save my life, so i have avoided the sun. this has benefited me, but i also have some of those early signs of aging now--my genes are as good many of the others here. my mother aged prematurely, somewhat.
I'm 24, and I don't get it and neither do any of my friends. However, I do have a few Olay anti-aging face washes and moisturizers that I use 3-4 times per week. Some of my friends are in the same boat. I'm sort of terrified of getting wrinkles. My mom, whom I do love dearly and feel bad saying this, does not have good skin; neither did my grandma. I'm scared that my skin won't look good as I age, either, and it seriously freaks me out. Idk how much Botox is, but on my teacher salary it probably won't be in my budget as I start to wrinkle.
I am in my 30's and would love to get something to help with the ( ) around my mouth. I would also love to get a chemical peel. My skin is a mess from having kids and from always wanting to be tan when I was younger. I have a lot of dark spots. I am using a lightener for the first time to see if it works. I totally understand why people get this type of stuff. It can really affect you when your skin sucks.
