I am hoping to go to DC for a weekend in September and was wondering where the best area to stay was. I would like to spend no more than $150/night if possible and preferably a hilton branded hotel, since we get points there, but I am willing to stay in other brands also for a good rate. The only thing I would really like is indoor corridors, and I realize that free parking would be difficult to come by. Not too far from attractions would be nice, I would like to not have to drive everywhere. I haven't been there since I was 13 y/o with school, so any recommendations would be great.
These are in close proximity to the Metro so no driving will be required. The Garden Inn was 139.00 per night and the Embassy Suites was 169.00 a night. A little over your budget but I thought the free full breakfast and evening free drinks and snacks would even out the overage.
A tip for DC is to book early. Even though it's not until September I would lock in my hotel rate over the next couple of weeks. DC gets very very expensive. Have fun!!!

Are you planning to fly in? Do you need a car?
Just did a quick hilton search on a random weekend in Sept. and like pp, there were several options in your price range in decent neighborhoods. If you're open to metro, consider Chevy Chase/Bethesda, Silver Spring and a couple spots in VA (I'm in MD so not as familiar with that area). Nice hotels in your price range and only a couple blocks to the metro.
