A gal from my old LYS does an annual Advent scarf KAL. She decided to do a summer KAL this year as well, using this pattern:

Oh I LOVE this pattern! You always find the best shawl patterns. Do you mind if I ask which LYS? I kinda wanna do it! I know you are somewhere in MA. I think I'm going to use the Mini Moochi yarn that the organizer suggested, but I'm going to noodle over it today before I call in an order

Ooooo you said old lys hehe. However, I'm seriously considering it anyway. Did you order everything from them?

I plan on calling her tomorrow to order. She said she'll mail stuff out. I'm sure she'd be happy to do the same for you!

Dr. L - I called and I am trying to decide which yarn to use. I LOVE the mini mochi - gorgeous but the gauge is so much smaller. There is a Mochi Plus which is worsted and same colorways, but she says she will need to order from California and it might take a week. What do you think I should do? I haven't done a knit along before - will I fall too far behind? Also, I didn't see anything in the thread, but is there a finish by date that you know of?

ETA Update: I had her order the Mochi Plus for me so I should have it by the end of next week. Very excited!

There is typically no end date. For the Advent scarf, she would send out a pattern a day that covered around 16 rows. We could finish it by Christmas Eve or 4th of July, whenever we had the time. For this one I think it will be more a matter of AWing our progress and asking for help if/when needed.

For the Advent scarf we have international participants, so this should be fun!

Did you order your yarn? What did you end up getting?

I ended up getting Crystal Palace Taos in Chili Pepper. I've used Taos before to make something for DD, and it was 1/2 off, so I figured what the heck. Can't wait!

I spoke with the lady at the store and she mailed my yarn to me yesterday so I am hoping it comes today! Cannot wait to start

Yay! I've only cast on because I'm focusing on DD's sweater. But I may have to do a row of the shawl just to get my feet wet, so to speak
