I have separate groups of friends too. HS and college. I made 1 new friend recently at work, but not sure we'd stay friends if we didn't work together. My HS friends are a PITA to schedule, so I only see them once every few months. They are great people, but the scheduling thing is SO annoying.

I have a really hard time juggling friends - that's probably why at any given time I have one or two people I'm really close with and a small group of people I talk to once a month or so.
I don't find it weird that your new group of friends is all guys, or that there is less drama with them. Guys in general have less drama - they don't get hung up on the little things.
It's a problem when they all work with you and get jealous of each other.
see this is a detail that should have been in the beginning - both groups of friends work with you- sticky, sticky, sticky
and honestly, what are you going to to with work friends besides eat? some people at my work have gone to the movies, or maybe a flower show - but I bet there was eating sometime in the GTG.

I find the new friends (even the ones with kids) easier to schedule as well! and really DH likes the new friend's DH better than old friend's DH. old friend's DHs are BIG drinkers and like to hang out at bars. DH is more active which new friend's DHs are as well.

I have different groups of friends who don't really intermingle. And my best friends right now are really the ones I met through work. I have a few high school friends left and another friend I have known for a long time who isn't friends with any of my other friends, but my closest friends right now are my work friends.
