I went for my first follow up with my GI since being diagnosed in December. He took blood and said the inflammatory markers are higher now than when I was first diagnosed. So it's steroids to try to push me into remission. I'm worried. I hate living like this

Oh no! That is such a bummer. I'm sorry that you didn't get good news. Are inflammatory markers something that would show up on a regular blood test or is that a special one they only do when that's what they're looking for? I'm working on many list of things to ask for at my appointment next week.
The sed rate and also a CRP can show inflammation. From what I understand, there are many reasons these can be elevated, so some drs don't bother measuring them.
I was very, very nervous about taking steroids, but they worked almost immediately for me. I didn't have to be on them for long after my last flare up (2007) and I haven't had to go on them again since. Good luck!
