I am now required to use CVS for my perscriptions and its chapping my ass. They suck and I miss Walgreens.
We were too. I hated it. I was so happy, when H changed insurance. Do you CVS Caremark?
I was buying condoms. The pharmacist asked if I was buying them for us to use later. When I contacted corp. office I got blown off. No one took it serious.
I would only get our RXs there and go to Walgreens for OTC. I hated it there. They would take for ever too.

I have personal beef with CVS. Unless there are extenuating circumstances I will go anywhere but CVS. CVS blows goats (unconsenting goats thereby making CVS goat molesters)
I think our Walgreens (overall) are nicer as well. We have like 3 Walgreens that are fairly new (past 5 years or so) and have Minute Clinics and are open 24 hours, are clean, etc.
All our CVS's seem old and worn down. And cramped.
Walgreens takes Express Scripts again (if that is your Rx coverage).
There are Walgreens and CVS on every other corner in downtown Chicago. In general, the Walgreens are better, but not all of them sell booze and some of the smaller ones are crappy.
CVS is nicer and has better/more products here. They actually stock the shelves too. Walgreens never has anything but their pharmacy is better and faster.
Walgreens has given me the wrong medication several times. And when I asked them about it they said they thought my doctor meant to write it for that and I should check with her. Maybe YOU should check with her, how about that?
I get prescriptions at Target now, but I love CVS for drugstore makeup and making quick trips for just a few things.
I just remembered something that happened at Walgreens.
LO was sick and prescribed an antibiotic. I went to Walgreens to drop it off and they told me it would be about an hour for it to be filled.
I took LO home and had my mom come over to watch her while I went to pick up her medicine so that I wouldn't have to drag LO out of the house again when she was feeling so crappy.
So, I go to Walgreens where the drive through line is way backed up and decide to go inside.
They give me the medicine pretty quickly, and I go home so I can give LO a dose. I open the bottle and see that it was just powder. They never mixed it with water or whatever solution they use to make it a liquid. So, once again, I had to go back out to Walgreens to have it fixed.
Not a huge deal, but it was a PITA when all I wanted to do was make LO feel better.

Walgreens is starting to get revamped in a few big Chicago locations.
Some of them now have things like sushi chefs and you can get your nails done. I'm pretty impressed, but I still prefer Target in the end for cosmetics/medicine.
Yes, something about the carpeting in CVS feels weird to me, too.
Walgreens stopped taking our insurance too, and we had to switch to CVS. I hate it.
You might want to check, Walgreens started carrying all major insurances again. They had a blow out with an organization that lasted about 6 months but everything should be back to normal again.
I am a Walgreens girl all the way (maybe b/c it pays half of our household income). It definitely depends on what store you are at and location in major cities.
It will be interesting to see Walgreens in larger cities in the next couple of years, in NYC there is one with a Beauty Bar that has high-end make up. One of my friends works for Tarte and they will be expanding into Wags in the near future from what they have accomplished at that store.
CVS is pretty new to my area (I think they bought out Longs?), so the stores are nicer/cleaner. I like their makeup selection better too. And the booze.
But Walgreens has a 24 hour pharmacy, so I won't switch to anywhere else. I like the barcode scanner on the app for refilling RXs too.
