starfish i have only read the first page of replies (and still haven't seen your op) but i am well versed in bleeding disorders and while e may not have platelet issues, i know some people that deal with such things. please reach out if you have questions, don't understand something, need help, whatever.
also, have they done a ptt?
I am not sure what a ptt is, we had a full panel blood work up that's what the hematologist order and worked with. I hope I didn't butcher the spelling that bad. They printed out a ton of papers about it, He even printed out the textbook since there wasn't a lot of information online. He did point us to a few forums, but said to take everything with a grain of salt. Because of baby's age, he didn't want to treat it yet, but if anything else comes up, to bring her back and will start an iv to bring the numbers up.
File a complaint. Maybe not now since you have a lot on your plate, but please do.
If your doctor felt that strongly about abuse, he should have filed. Not saying he should have (not at all!), just that if he felt the need to write that, he should have called CPS. Idiot.
I agree! If he felt the need to note it on his paper that there could be abuse he should be reporting it!
Op- I am glad you have some answers and I hope you get good results from the blood work at the end of the week.

PTT measures coagulation factors. Its basically a test that looks at how long it takes the blood to clot and can indicate a bleeding disorder. I would imagine that was part of the panel the hematologist ordered. If you have a copy of the bloodwork it should be on there, as long as a column of normal ranges for all tests ordered.
I not really sure who I would report it too. I expect to see cps on my door step any moment. I told my mom what happened, and while really worried, thinks I should have some pay back for all the times I got cps called on her.
I have a huge dark strawberry birthmark on my arm, and it looks like a bruise. I use to enjoy entertaining my teachers with creative ways I got said bruise. My mom started coming to school the first week, showing my birthmark and explaining what it was, ruined all my fun.
I am not sure who I would file a complaint with. I would feel odd calling cps and asking, hey did my crappy, jerk faced dr file an abuse case on me, or my sp child? Is there any other way to check?

it is not uncommon for this to happen (the cps stuff) with bleeding disorders. just keep the er paperwork handy and show them that if they should come.
also, should you want to report, there are agencies that can help you with the proper place to report to.
The er dr printed me off paperwork to show if they come knocking. I made sure to bring up the original Dr order as soon as I saw what he wrote. I know how crazy cps can be. I not sure were to start to file a complaint. He owns his practice, but I can complain when I call tomorrow to change main care provider over and go from there.
Oh man. I'm so glad you insisted on the blood test. I'd personally want to take the results and staple them to the forehead of the dick doctor who accused you guys of hurting her.
Honestly, I'd go a step further and report your interaction to his supervisor or the HMO. Not that he thought it was abuse (it is part of his job to keep an eye out for potential abuse) but that he didn't run any other tests to rule out other dangerous situations. Not okay. Very not okay.

the problem isn't that he was doing part of his job as a reporter for abuse, because that is important, but he was not listening to you at all. He was not hearing you when you told him how quickly bruises were popping up or your obvious concern and instinct that something was seriously wrong. THAT is worthy of reporting HIM.
it's not like he told you "OK, lets run some blood work to rule out some possibilities and then go from there." and then also submit a report. Instead he had it in his head that this was done at the hands of her brother and that was that.
I'm so glad you went to the ER and that everything is manageable. That must have been beyond scary, thank God a doctor there took you seriously.
As for filing a complaint, I think you absolutely should. His failure to take you seriously resulted in you having to take a trip to the ER for some very scary circumstances. His conduct was also very unprofessional. There should be a state medical society or licensing board in your state with whom you can file a complaint. If you have a family doctor or GP that you go to otherwise (your or YH), you could consider talking to them about it as well.
I hope you can find a new pediatrician ASAP and that your little one's platelets go up soon.
Starfish, file a complaint with the state medical board--send them a letter detailing the event and include copies of the ER papers as well as the doctors initial report.
He may have been waiting to call cps until after the bloodwork came back. Regardless, he is a massive douche and I am glad you found a new pediatrician.

You can file a complaint with your state's medical board. I don't know what state you're in but you should be able to google it to find a phone number, if not a website, and find out how to file a complaint.
I am absolutely FLOORED! My oldest has not-yet-diagnosed but that is what it is, APD and a speech delay and she would never, ever hurt the baby. She would hurt someone who looked at her baby sister wrong, super protective. I am so sorry you got a shitty MD with his own agenda, but I am so stoked you have answers and proof so you can shove it down that douchebag's throat.
