We have been doing Ferber for about a week now, and I have learned that my son will go back to sleep if I let him cry just a little bit. Ferber suggests progressive waiting, but my upper limit is 20 minutes. He'll usually settle back down after about 10 minutes. If he's still crying after that I always go get him, check his diaper, and give him snuggles for a little bit before putting him back down.
He's napping like an asshole today too, so I know how you feel.
I usually let it go for awhile (and I probably did), but this one sounds royally unhappy. Ok, I'm off. Usually she'll just sit there and play if she cries for a few minutes when she wakes up. It was probably more like 10 or less min, but I suck at listening to her cry.
You know I typed this to keep myself from going up there, right? Arrgh. Torture. Often she'll go back down, but she's not sounding like it this time.
I usually wait 20 min while deciding what type of cry it is. If he's pretty stressed out and upset ill go in and get him but if he's fake crying ill leave him for more like 30 min to see if he falls back to sleep.
Often she'll go back down, but she's not sounding like it this time.
I feel like after a while, I have learned the difference between a "I'm mad because mom's making me sleep" cry and a "I just shit my pants and I reeeeally need a hug" cry. You can tell.
