Please no flames for having to put my dog in cargo. Trust me, I tried everything to get her to fly in the cabin with us and the only way she could move to the UK with is to be in cargo. I've checked with the vet and a behavorist and they said that she'll be fine.
She's getting door to door service, where she'll be picked up from my friend's house, driven to the airport, walked, put on a non stop flight (9 hrs), taken off the flight, walked through customs and then delivered to our place. The whole process should be around 15 hours.
I got her some herbal sedatives (vet and relo company said it was fine) and a thunder shirt. I'm going to have my friend freeze some water for her crate, throw in an old t shirt of mine and H's, puppy pads and one of her toys that she loves. I'm going to tape a little baggie of treats to the top of the crate too.
I got her tags with an "in case of emergency number" for both in the US and the UK and I'm going to tape a big print out to the top of her crate with our address in London as well the contact numbers on her collar.
I've packed her things, so that she'll have her bed and the rest of her toys as soon as she gets home.
She's still not a fan of her crate, but I'm really trying to get her to like it more with positive reinforcement. It's been a really slow process and my fear is that we won't get there in time. She moves March 14.
i would put the in case of emergency numbers on top of her crate too, along with a US address, in case she doesn't make it on the flight and needs to go somewhere.
the treats being taped to the top her crate--will there be a note on how/when to give them to her? otherwise that's torture for her to see/smell her treats but can't get to them, ever.
