My apologies if this is a question asked daily, I tried to search the site for previous posts but came up w/nothing...
Anyway, we are going to be gone 5 nights & we have 2 dogs. 1 will need exercise atleast 1, if not 2x a day (now that he's older he doesn't need as much as he used to), the other one.....could care less, she just likes to sleep & eat!
The sitter is a friend of ours & will be staying in our home. We'll give her the choice of sleeping in our room w/a king sized bed or our guest room w/a queen.
We don't expect her to do anything (ie: clean, & whatever else people have house sitters do) besides feed the dogs, let them out (we have a fenced in backyard) & exercise them.

We paid a professional pet sitter either $30/day. She came by in the morning and afternoon for 45 minutes each and in that time, fed them, changed water bowls, cleaned litter boxes and played/snuggled with them. I felt like that was reasonable.
If your friend is staying there I'd probably do $20/day since they aren't having to travel back and forth multiple times a day.

I have a friend that also stays at our house, sleeps in our bed with all 3 dogs! I stock the house with their favorite food and beverages and they have to do nothing but feed and let the dogs out and play with them. When we usually go on vacation we are gone almost 9 days and I pay $250.00. It would normally cost around $380.00 if we were to board them. I figure I spend almost $100.00 on food in addition to what I pay and they are fine with that. plus they love our dogs like one of their own and they text pics and videos of the dogs while we are gone which is awesome!
