I might be crazy, but I think I remember a while back you were talking about an ear issue that felt like a bug flying around in your ear. Does this sound right?

Anyway, a friend was telling me that she had this sensation & I thought of you. Any insight?

I'm an audiologist, and I have funky ears. Lol.

When did the sensation start? Does she feel it or just hear it? I'd go to the doc if she feels something.

If she hears it, I have more questions but will likely recommend going to an ENT and audiologist.

She said it feels like a moth is flying around in her ear. It's been off & on for a few weeks. I'll definitely tell her to see someone. Any thoughts on what it could be?

It makes me think of the woman who had a spider in her ear

if it is on and off for a few weeks, i doubt it is actually a moth.

that fluttering sound/sensation COULD be a muscle spasm in the middle ear. is she having another other symptoms other than the fluttering?

I don't know about any other symptoms. Is this anything specific you would ask ?

Any change in hearing? Pressure or fullness? Pain? Dizziness or vertigo? Ringing or buzzing?

Butting in here...
My husband had a cold a few weeks ago which is now gone. However he can not hear out of his one ear and its been like this for 2 weeks. Sometimes it will clear up but only for a few minutes. Do you think he has fluid in it? The reason I ask this is he refuses to go to the doctor and I just dont want it to be something worse. Thanks for any advice you can provide. Men!

no way I could say whether there is fluid, but it could be. Or it could be A lot of other things. He needs to go to an ENT. Don't let this go. I hate when I see a patient who has been suffering for months needlessly.
