I came here to post a thread with practically the same title as CJ's.
So, I have fine, somewhat thin hair. While pregnant, it was slightly thicker and very healthy. Postpartum, of course, that's changed. For the last month or so my hair has been especially dry and almost coarse in texture, even though it's so fine. Basically, it feels wiry and doesn't want to behave. I wash every other day, and on the second day I now have to really work just to get it to lay correctly. It's cut fairly short (2-4").
Right now I use Trader Joe's tea tree shampoo and conditioner most days. I also use Phyto's anti-aging mask 1-2x per week, but that's not doing the trick anymore. I also have a deluxe sample of Alterna's Kendi Oil Dry Mist, Aquage spray leave-in conditioner, and pure argan oil. None are really helping.
I'm going to go out at lunch today in search of products to help solve this issue. I have access to an Aveda salon with products, Sephora, Nordstrom, Lush, and many other stores (downtown Seattle). I'm considering Alterna's Caviar restructuring products. They're pricey, but if it helps my hair I'll take the plunge. I'm desperate! Suggestions?
Edit: and by products, I mean I'll try a full line-up if it will help. Shampoo, conditioner, leave-in, what have you.
Does it have to be Sephora? I don't have the same hair type/texture you do at all, but I like both the L'Oreal sulfate-free line (I use EverPure, EverCreme and EverCurly, depending on the weather/time of year) and a the Organix line products that are Coconut-something (I can't get this one in France, so I can't remember the exact name).
I also do not wash every day. I don't even wash every other day. My hair gets too dry/frizzy if I overwash it. Your daily washing may be adding to the wiryness/misbehaving.
I have heard great, great, great things about the Kerastasse line, but still haven't made the plunge to 27 Euro bottles of shampoo and upwards of that for conditioner and deep conditioner. Every time I sink lots of money into products (Leonor Greyl, Devachan), I end up disappointed.

Thanks for the recommendations. I already only wash every other day (thought I said that in the OP, but maybe not), so that's not the issue. I don't use anything containing sulfates. My routine had been just right for quite a while, until the apparent hormone plunge in the last month or so.
I went out to Sephora and bought travel-size bottles of the Alterna Caviar stuff. It's insanely expensive, so I'm still looking for alternatives, but meanwhile I cannot continue to let my hair look this crazy, LOL.
