I feel awful for the parents with regard to some of the comments they are receiving. I don't think they are using their child to get fame, it sounds like they were letting her dress as a girl for quite a while before this became public. As for the little girl, I don't know what the right or wrong thing to do regarding the bathrooms is. I want to say let her use whatever bathroom she wants, but I am sure there are rules and regulations a school has to follow.

I've seen a few articles on this and I think they are letting their little girl be a little girl.
Doesn't matter that she was born with boy parts. She's a little girl.
I understand that the school probably feels between a rock and a hard place, but realistically speaking it's much better for this child to use the bathroom that belongs to her gender, rather than her sex.
I agree. I am wondering what brought the bathroom issue to light because realistically no one should be seeing her genitals to know that she is different, so I assume it's just the school trying to intervene before any potential issues arise. But if someone did see her genitals, there is obviously a much larger issue here.

:Y: I completely agree. Well said.
It is frustrating that institutions like schools, are so slow to change and in meeting the needs of the tiny minority. I am so glad the parents are good advocates.
I just read this, so not a heath for me. I feel like the school is anticipating or has already received a complaint from another parent(s) about her using the girls' bathroom most likely which is what prompted the action? I could be wrong of course, but I just feel like some parent would take major issue with all of this and complain to the school.

Do the bathroom stalls not have doors? I don't get it. Were the kids peeing with the door open? Why would anyone think it was ok for a transgendered child (or adult) go stand in a bathroom with urinals, but not ok to pee in the privacy of a stall? Why not put a sign on the kid for her to wear around that says, "I am a girl who happens to have a penis?". That wouldn't be discrimination, would it? After all she does have a penis, so it is just a fact :-{. Seriously, I think science has proved out that male / female gender identity are on a spectrum, clearly this child is on the female spectrum and should not be made to feel like an outcast because of it.
