Dog's fears

My dog is suddenly afraid of the furnace. As in we've lived in the house for 3 years and as of 2 months ago she gets freaked out everytime it kicks on.

If I am lying in bed reading a book and she's out in the livingroom playing with the cats (they are all best friends) and the furnace kicks on I suddenly have an 85lb GSD mix in bed with me, cuddling as close as she can because she's freaked out by it lol

Any idea why she's suddenly afraid of something that's been there for over 2 and a half years? lol

I don't know why, but one trick that works with my guy is this:

When she's fearful and looking at you for comfort, turn your head to the side and give the biggest yawn you can manage. Then the doggy brain thinks, oh, if mom's bored and tired this can't be that scary after all.
