Thad has been a proficient cruiser since well before christmas. He pushes his walker everywhere and has successfully taken steps a few times. He won't stand independently or really try to walk. Anyone else have a kid like this? I don't mind, but it is sort of weird. I know he could walk if he wanted.

DS was this way. He started cruising and crawling at the same time (7 months) and didn't stand independently/take steps by himself for three more months (10 months).
DD was this way. She was cruising even before she was crawling, but didn't take her first steps until she was 13 months developmental. She never even took little tentative steps or walked whie holding onto our fingers. She just decided one day to take a step, realized she could do it and was off.
I think matilda was walking pushing the walking toy/cruising on furniture for 2 months or more before she actually walked, so that maybe normal?
I remember her first steps seemed so difficult for her. She would stand there and you could tell she was desperately trying to figure out how to lift her foot! Even though minutes before she was running around the room pushing the walker.

Mia is like this too. She loves pushing around chairs and her walker but she sits right down when we try to get her to walk on her own. She doesn't fall, she just stubbornly sits!
Same here. He cruises and uses the walker so well. Just yesterday, he stood independently for 5 seconds, then fell on his butt. Right now, I think balance is an issue, but I'm not sure how to work with him on that.

Yup. Tyler is the same. I am sure he could walk, but he would rather crawl. Also, when he is standing holding my hands and I let go, he gives me a WTF look but then he can stand without a problem.

This. I think my LO is afraid when we let go of her hands. She will let go on her own transitioning between items, but if she realizes she is not holding onto something she sits right down.
