Last straw w/our gas grill occurred over the weekend. It's one of those big stainless commercial Char Broil grills. It's 5 years old and so many parts on it are broken and rusted that it will cost $450 to fix it (price quoted right from Char Broil when I called today and gave them a list of replacement parts that I needed. That is more than I paid for the damn thing when I bought it.)
Anyway, rec your gas grill that is not Char Broil. I have no idea what brands are good.
Weber is usually considered best by most people. They own Ducane and make them in the same factory with the same parts, according to my husband. Lowe's has one (I think it's the 4200?) for $350 that we'll be buying in the next month or so.

Our Char Broil broke after a short time too. We've been happy with our Weber. DH did a bunch of research and got one with cast iron grates (some have steel grates and he really wanted the cast iron). Oddly both HD and Lowe's had the same grill, but the one at HD had the cast iron grates and Lowe's had steel, so we got it from HD.
We have a Weber Spirit something or other. It's 5 years old and running strong, despite a fair amount of abuse. Calvin has commented that it could use some maintenance, but even if it died tomorrow I think I'd feel like I got my money's worth.
Another recommendation for Weber. My husband used the one at our honeymoon resort several times and insisted we use our wedding money to buy one when we got back. No regrets here - it is AWESOME and he is always willing to grill up something for us.
I'd also recommend a weber. I MADE dh get a new one last year for fathers day and he's still pissed because his 1980s weber worked perfectly fine....haha! And really, it did work great, it was just an eyesore.
I did a lot of research though a d the cheaper webers (like under the $650 price point) are actually made overseas now and with cheaper parts. Granted, I still think they are better than your typical gas grill, but they aren't the quality that weber is known for. I got the e-330 based on the best reviews and we've been very happy with it. And if it's not under a covered porch area, I'd highly suggest buying the cover as well. It's an extra $100 but well worth it. Keeps dh's grill looking like new!
I have a Kenmore. It's 7 years and now starting to look a little rough. H fixed it up with some homemade parts and she's not pretty anymore but she works just great!
In my grill's defense though, I don't take very good care of it. We use it constantly in the summer so it rarely gets put in and we forget about until we're in the middle of a storm! It's tipped over as a result once or twice but still good to go. Covers are worthless here too. I had one...it blew away two days later..but that's life on the prairie.
Still it cost like $500 and I expect to get another year or two..so at $50.00 a year...not to shabby.
IMO with grills you get what you pay for. My parents have a high end Weber and it rocks too! Also suggest!
