It's somewhat depressing, yes. But beautifully shot. My friend hated it, I was just meh. I didn't like it because the situation (re: environment, water rising) really makes me sad.
I really liked it and wanted the girl to get Best Actress. It is depressing and surreal but great storytelling. I'm glad I saw it but I'm not sure I'd see it again (on purpose).

I agree. We saw the writer at a film festival and he talked about how they cast the dad, how he owned a bakery in town and had no acting experience. He was really good, as was she. The cinematography and music were very cool.

Was it here someone (or maybe another site?) someone wrote that the "hipsters" who made this film exploited the locals used in the film. It led to offending everyone in the area.
I haven't seen the movie and from the general plot of the story, I didn't get how people were exploited? Opinions, anyone?

I watched the making of it.
They did use a lot of local folks who were not actors. It looked like they all had a good time. Not sure of any backlash.
lol that you used "hipsters" because yeah, I see the crew as them.
