If someone really cares to take score, I just noticed something else they changed. There used to be a shortcut on the left side of the page to "my posts". It's gone now. I never thought it worked all that great anyway; optimally, you should re-enter each thread at the point you posted. Instead, if you posted on page 6 of a 12 page tbread, you had to scroll through the pages to get to the point you left the thread and see if anyone replied to you.
Or maybe it would be better if each reply showed up as a separate subject line/ link to be opened. When we get really long threads, I really wish that message board was in that style!
I actually used that "my posts" feature and I agree - it sucked. Yet over here, I click on my name, and I can see my recent posts. And clicking on my recent post actually BRINGS ME TO MY POST within the thread. I was so pleased when I discovered that.
Anyway, it kind of hurts my heart to think of the type of people who will eventually take over our old board. It will be all Bump-level discussions about welfare drug tests, all the time. And I guess I don't like change (I'm more conservative than I thought!) because I'm kind of nostalgic for the Nest. But I'll stay where everyone else stays.
I don't care about a stand alone app, but if I can't post to the Nest from a browser on my mobile device or something else like that there's no point in going back. I do the majority of my nesting from my nook, and it would be no fun at all to only access a MB I'm active on once my kid goes to bed.
The pure white eyeburning color switched to off white would help a lot, as would decreased load times. I really diwlike being unable to see the postbefore mine or even a nod to which subforum I'm replying to on the reply page.
They could fix the utterly shitty message system, where you dont know if you have one, or how to write one, or pretty much anything. That sucked balls more than anything else IMO.

I hated what they did to "My Posts". The latest version (before the recent screw up) listed only one page of your most recent posts. Before that, you could at least go back 6 months or so. Hated that.
I'm thinking maybe a well trafficked advice board or something here would be a good way to bring in new blood.
This is a fabulous idea. We can all fake dear abby letters and have the most ridiculous Q&As sure to bring some freaks in when they come a-googling!
Also, targeted advertising on TK boards? Perhaps on each month board as they are about to get married and "graduate"?
Since we've brought a lot of traffic to this site do you think proboards could help us in anyway to get more traffic? Like if they paid to put it higher up on the search engines? Seems like it would be a win-win.
My only concern is that I love the fact that this site doesn't have any advertisements and if more traffic comes I'm afraid they'll make a 'business decision' to allow advertisement for more revenue.
I don't anticipate going back to TN as long as everyone stays here, it's too slow and takes too many clicks to get to the message boards. And they have the worst articles I've ever seen.

FYI there will be ads in a week or two, but as I understand it they are fairly unobtrusive banners at the top and bottom.

This issue is supposed to be fixed when all the boards are on the same format.

On the home page there is a link all the way at the bottom that says "Keep this board ad-free." I am sure they want us to pay up for use. I don't know how I feel about it, but at least it looks like an option should we need it.
On another message board I read (local to Houston), users can decide on an individual basis if they want to pay to have ads or not. I wonder if this is an option here?

We got a 2-week ad-free trial when we created the board, but when that is up there will be ads. They are two 728x90 pixel banners - one at the top of the page & one at the bottom. If you use firefox + adblock you don't see them at all.
I don't mind small advertisements that are on the top or bottom as I understand it cost money to run a site. What I hate (and what I was referring to) is the pop ups that force you to look at it for 30 seconds and won't let you click on anything until they are done.

Honestly, I've never seen an ad like that on any website ever. Granted I'm somewhat of a luddite, but even the big ones the expand if you accidentally scroll over them will have a "close" button in the upper right corner. Anyway, I don't think we should start flexing our muscles around this place. I personally have no idea what percentage of traffic we are in the overall proboards world and it feels very Ron Burgundy to be all "You better make an exception for us."
According to wiki proboards gets 22 million visitors and 600 million page views a month. We are small fries.
Seriously, you're one of the more eloquent posters on here, and I love it.
I told you that PP loves your personhood post, right? I shared it with one of my friends there, and it's been making it's rounds around the national office (credited to you, of course). You're apparently becoming quite famous.
"This prick is asking for someone here to bring him to task Somebody give me some dirt on this vacuous mass so we can at last unmask him I'll pull the trigger on it, someone load the gun and cock it While we were all watching, he got Washington in his pocket."
I don't have a problem admitting to being on"a politics chat board." Previously, if I had said that, I feared people being interested and wanting to know more, and then I'd have to say, "uhhh, the nest." *dies*
(Hoping I got the partial quote right)
I'm a little embarrassed to admit it but this is one of the reasons I'm delurking now!
