DH and I just spent the last 4 hours--yes, 4 hours--organizing our downstairs room. We took about $300 worth of stuff to Goodwill and have a few things to drop off at Habitat Restore. We got rid of two trash bags of junk, and finally got rid of our old bookshelf (which somebody picked up off our curb about 5 minutes after it got out there). We still have a little ways to go, but it feels so great to get organized!
Yeah... I just made us sound like hoarders... Trust me, we're not! We just have a lot of stuff that we couldn't find homes for when we moved in and we are still going through it to figure out if we need it or not.
I feel you. DH and I have been cleaning out our house for the last year in preparation for a move, and the amount we've donated probably makes us seem like hoarders. We've taken the equivalent of two standard sized pickup beds to Goodwill; sold twice that amount on Craigslist, at work and at garage sales; donated a lot to the Restore and thrown a bunch in the trash. It's really embarassing.
