I'm throwing my sister a shower in July so this is really early, haha.
I want to start gathering some recipes for appetizer/finger foods for her shower. She wants these types of foods rather than a regular meal. We haven't determined the time of day yet but it will probably be sometime in the afternoon so this type of food will be appropriate.
At work, we have "food days" whenever someone on my team celebrates something, so I was thinking that I'd gather some recipes now and try them out before the shower.
We have a food day Monday. What are your best appetizer/finger food recipes? There are really no limits other than that they cannot contain shellfish (my mom has a severe allergy) and they should be something that doesn't have to be served immediately after pulling out of the oven/off the stove (we're having the shower in a party room of a condo building and the stove is not accessible).
So far the only thing I'm certain on is caprese skewers. The shower is going to be a classic romantic vibe so I'd prefer things on the classier side (no pigs in a blanket, for example).

proscuitto wrapped anything! we do it wrapped around 2 asparagus stalks and drizzled with balsalmic vinegar and evoo and salt and pepper - serve at room temp.
baked brie with walnuts, apples, figs
bruscetta - either with classic tomato topping or fig jam, slice of brie and slice of apple (in lieu of the baked brie)
dark chocolate squares topped with blue cheese and lavendar honey
I like those little veggie cups - mini plastic cups (almost shot glass size) put ranch/hummus in the bottom and put a few cut carrots, sugar snap peas in (search pinterest and it's all over)
bacon wrapped dates is romantic it's like audrey hepburn and george clooney meeting in central park randomly on the first snowy day in the city.. under a bridge
If you're doing caprese skewers, could you do a couple of other skewer ideas too? For instance, you could do a spanish style skewer with some chorizo/jamon, manchego or mahon cheese, and an olive. Or you could turn the above prosciutto and melon suggestion into a skewer. There's tons of other 'deconstructions' that you could do. I'm not sure it's 'romantic' but it perhaps is 'dainty' or more upscale than a usual meat/cheese plate. And they do tend to look nice.
I meant the shower will have that vibe, not necessarily the food. Just that the food should be on the classier side. IDK. I'm not much of a theme party planner.
I don't know what would be romantic food - chocolate covered strawberries? lol.

I like this idea.
We don't have a Costco, Whole Foods, or TJ's out here. No wonder my life sucks! Haha.
We are getting a Costco in late June though.
Thankfully my sister lives in Chicago so she has all of those things, but I'd like to know ahead of time what will be served so it will be hard to just shop that day without knowing what's available.
What about making tea sandwiches? For a baby shower I went to, we had cucumber and cream cheese sandwiches, curry chicken (Costco brand), and and another one that I'm blanking on. The hostess put the filling on a whole piece of bread and then topped it with another slice. Then she put all of the whole sandwiches back into the bread bag and into the fridge. Then that morning, she cut the sandwiches. Easier for storage in the fridge.
I think you've gotten some good ideas so far. I'm a big fan of prosciutto wrapped anything. Maybe mini crab cakes w/ aioli, mini quiche or savory tartlets? For dessert, I'm thinking chocolate covered strawberries, mini cheesecakes (see blog link in siggy for a couple of recipes), mini fruit tarts, and maybe some artisan/gourmet truffles.
