Here is the front of my house when I bought it...pale yellow vinyl siding, navy blue shutters and front door.
I'd like to freshen up the look a bit this spring but the only color combos I can see working are black shutters and a red door (which I'd like better than what we have now!) Any other suggestions? Or red door color recs? : )

I really like the classic look of a red door, yellow house and black shutters. I also like yellow siding with sage green shutters/doors or even a brighter green.
I don't like a red door with a yellow house. Our house is the same shade and the door (and shutters) is currently a sagey green. it's fine but not my pick, as soon as I can I will be painting or replacing both with all black
My first thought was a red/orange, like spanks said. Sort of like this, maybe a little more orange-y:
I think this looks fabulous.
I have to say that having a very conservatively colored house, both inside and out, has caused me to appreciate bolder color choices. Conservative colors are boring, LOL.

lol I do think the yellow with the red looks nice, but I think it is funny that you think it is bold. I was going to comment that it looked nice, but it was kind of an expected combination and 'safe'. Not anything that I would consider bold.

This tells you how conservatively my house is decorated, LOL.
