FoxInFiji --- You showed a diagram of proper knob placement when I was asking about knobs/pulls. It showed a cabinet door with flat flat frame. Our cabinets have frames that are not all flat; has some design on both sides. So, how would I place the knobs? Which one should I use as a reference, just the flat section or the entire frame?
Here's a picture of the options I have in mind. Which is better? Or does it matter?
For others, please share your thoughts. Where would you put the knob? Thanks!
I prefer the higher. The lower placement just seems unbalanced to me.
It's kind of like when people put stuff on the outside edges of their mantel with no empty space around it....the stuff just looks like it is about to dive off of a cliff. To me, the cabinet knobs that are low (although the lower ones in your example are not that low) look like they are hanging on for their lives. lol
My FIL and my cabinet maker both tell me that the unofficial "rule" is that the knob is centered on the purple line on the left hand photo. That where the flat part of your frame ends is what you use. This way shorter people have an easier time grabbing the knobs on upper cabinets. Take it for what you will. I prefer the look of the lower knob if you don't want to follow that rule.

This is how my cabinet guys put out knobs in. They're centered on the line that runs along the outside edge of the frame. So actually a bit lower than the one on the left.
