I can't watch that show. His choices make me CRAZY - not because they're necessarily terrible, but because from a useful standpoint, they don't make any sense. Did you see the episode where he built some sort of cabinet, then put a normal fridge inside it? Meaning that every time you want to cook in that kitchen, you have to open two cabinet doors and then the fridge door, just to get something out.
That would drive me crazy, and I spent the whole episode wishing he'd just buy a fridge that could have had the cabinet panels applied to the outside.
His choices are far from functional. I could never live in a space like those.
I do enjoy his "eye" and passion. I spent years going through old buildings that most people felt were better demolished and saw so much beauty. Most of my clients couldn't even see it, they just wanted the credits.
I also get annoyed with a false sense of history. Though he is adding old pieces to an old building, it's not the history of that building. This is a pet peeve of mine and know for many it is splitting hairs, but it drives me bonkers.
