Has anyone here been on Femara? This is what my doctor is recommending I start, rather than Clomid. Just wondering what kind of side effects you might have experienced with it?
I did clomid for 3 months and this last cycle did femara before deciding to take a break. It was the only cycle that my dr told me I had a "perfect follicle". I didn't mind it at all. I had some hot flashes, but nothing compared to clomid. Other than that no side affects.
Also, my dr had me get my RX at costco. It's the cheapest place in town to get it - I think it was $11? We're taking a few months off and then I'll start up femara again. A friend of mine did clomid, took a break and her first cycle on femara got pg.
Did you take it with a trigger shot as well, or just by itself? I got a lot of info thrown at me at my appt last week. Our first option unfortunately is IUI. My issues combined with my husband means pretty much everything below that is pointless. Which I had already prepared myself for that to be the case.
I only ask because I have a friend on Clomid and I know her side effects are occasionally brutal. I want to know what I'm getting myself into!
I understand the feeling! I was so overwhelmed at first. I'm also doing Metformin and wish I had started it from the beginning but was wanting just 1 drug at a time. I've learned sooo much these last few months. Just be careful what you read online, this site is great but some of them out there are a little cray cray
Ya clomid was horrible - I had hot flashes all day at work and headaches so bad. This was not bad at all! I got the trigger too. That hurt a little - they do it right above your ass. But it was quick. The only downside of trigger is it'll give you a false positive so you can't test early.
Yea, my doctor told me not to look it up online. Haha. I did a bit of research anyways, but I'd rather hear from someone who has actually taken it than read random stuff.
I'm hoping to start it next cycle, but I have a cyst she wants gone before we can start anything. I go in this week some time to see if that's cleared up or if surgery is required :/ I'm really hoping its gone, but with my luck it won't be. Every hurdle we could possibly hit, I feel like we have so why would now be any different?

Hey, I did one round clomid, two rounds Femara ( the second round of Femara worked for us). My side effects were less with Femara but I did still get hot flashes for a few days. We also did it I conjunction with the Trigger shot. Trigger didn't hurt too bad for me. I actually had to do the last one myself since it was over vacation with dr office closed. Not my Favorite thing but not horrible either.
You are military right? Tricare I presume? I think the Femara was only a couple bucks for the prescription but the shot was$125 for me ( Tricare paid like $45) I honestly felt it was worth it. Same with the ultrasounds associated with it....I paid a certain % of each one.
I've done lots of cycles with femara. I've taken breaks so I'm not sure how many but I'm on at least the 8th cycle. I haven't had any noticeable side effects. I took it for like 4 cycles with TI. Then I moved on to an RE and took it for a few cycles with a trigger shot and TI. Now we're doing femara, trigger, and IUI. Since taking it, I have had at least one follicle that has measured over 20mm. Before, I was averaging about 15mm so I guess it's working even though we haven't had a BFP yet.
daisy24342 a success story! Yay! And yes, I'm on Tricare Prime. I'm pretty sure on Prime most of that is covered. With talking to my doctor, my understanding is the only thing I have to pay for out of pocket with the IUI is the procedure itself. But I could be wrong. So far I haven't had to pay for anything yet. We shall see though. I'm just glad to be getting started soon.

Ok good, I'm glad you are covered. I think because I went off post I had to pay more out of pocket. I also know that if we had done IUI I would have had to gone to Womack to get the procedure, without incurring more fees.

Wow I can't believe it cost that much! Mine was like $45 and insurance doesn't cover any. But my dr is good about sending me to places that work with you on price. I'm glad it worked for you! I have high hopes it'll work when our break is over. I had a really good follicle with it and never had as good with clomid.

I did two rounds of femera with iui. I had headaches and weird twitching in my eye which took about 2 months to go away. Apart from that, no real side effects, it was quite non-eventful but I did not respond to it (had 1 egg which is what I get normally). The most bizarre thing is that while talking it, my MIL told me (without knowing I am doing if treatments) that she takes femara every day for her breast cancer. She is on her 5th year of it. Good luck @gumby
