Because I'd really like to talk about the duct tape dresses. Pretty please?

This one is cute, but NMS. The duct tape petticoat underneath killed me, though. I loved is so much.



I love the patterning on the skirt of this dress:



I know this one got low marks for being too 80s, but I lurve it because it's so 80s.



I don't hate this one,  but I don't love it either. I'm glad homegirl had to go home. She's BOSSY and thinks much too highly of herself.


Can I also say how much I miss Michael Kors? Zac Posen is always dressed like Willy Wonka's cousin.

Sidenote - DH and I went to watch WWE RAW yesterday. It was so fun! Shamus was so white I was almost blinded by the reflection of the lights off his skin.

I really need to start watching again. But I got burned out on watching people I hate with the fashion sense of a can of oatmeal not getting kicked off the show week after week.

Yeah, I think that's when we stopped watching too. Mr man even watched with me. After that, he said no mas. He was legit pissed that heifer won.

It has moments of brilliance. I think that all of the challenges this season being team challenges is an interesting twist. I enjoyed watching the crushing disappointment on each designers face in the first episode. It's also been entertaining to watch how relieved they are when they only have to work with one other person. I would desperately love for next season to be nothing but unconventional challenges, but the designers would probably riot.

I tivo and watch when I'm feeling lazy to kill time; I still enjoy it. The designers are always interesting.

#2 I thought was cute, but overly cutesy for prom. #3 she looked like she was laying a damn egg or had a giant blue fart cloud. #4 was kind of slutty to be age appropriate for prom IMO.

Also, only one of the judges had been to prom. I thought Kate was right that girls want it as their day to wear a cinderella dress, but then again I wore pumas matching my dress to prom so wtf do I know.

Kate sucked.  I love how they both get kicked off because of her design and she is all WOE IS ME, I HAD SO MUCH MORE TO SHOW.  Talk about self absorption, you got someone really nice and talented booted because you're obsessed with yourself.

I love this show. My H claims he doesn't like it and doesn't care, but then he sits there critiquing the runway clothes like goddamn Anna Wintour.

I caught last week's episode too. I actually kind of like the teams idea this season. Seems to focus a little more on the clothes and less on the personalities.

Loved the winner - so inventive.

The pink bow one - loved the bottom, thought the top was ill fitting.

And yeah, I liked the gold one. The bottom in particular. I didn't think that deserved such hatred by the judges.

I didn't like the one that looked like it had fish scales or leaf patterns (or whatever that was) on it. I thought that should have been in the bottom too. Just cause it had a lot of ideas doesn't mean it wasn't a hot mess.

The long mermaid one was the only one that actually looked like a prom dress IMO.

I thought Zac's commentary about prom was hiliarious - and right. I don't know...I'm not sure how much prom has changed from my day, but girls really loved wearing long elaborate dresses back then. I'm guessing that is still true. I thought Nina and Heidi were kind of out of touch on that aspect. And it was funny to see Zac call them out on it. I don't recall a time when a judge was so vehemently disagreeing with those two.

Gretchen winning was terrible and I threatened to boycott. That turned into only boycotting the first episode of the following season. Haha

I really am not into this season with the teams, but I always enjoy challenges with weird materials. I loved the winning dress. #2 I really didn't like. The panels were cool, but it did nothing for me. #3 I loved the bottom, but the top was meh #4 is a part of the 80's I'd be ok with bringing back and #5 is a classic prom dress. No, it's nothing special, but it's classic

Also, what was up with everyone insisting no one wants long dresses at prom. Maybe it's because my HS has a semi formal Freshman/Sophomore Years and then Jr and Sr proms, but people were fierce about wearing the appropriate length dress. Semi's you got shit if you wore a long dress, but people would still do it. Prom, everyone wore long dresses end of story. I've seen enough pictures from proms post my graduation year that I'm pretty sure this is still the case.

i still watch, but haven't seen this episode yet. i caught up on all of them over the weekend when DH was at an overnight bachelor party. i'm two behind, i think. last one i saw was for miranda lambert. i really like the season so far, the team thing works better than i thought it would.

my DH is the same as someone said above, says he doesn't care but if i'm watching he's critiquing right along with me. i miss michael kors though, he walks always good for a memorable phrase or face.

I didn't go to prom (I think HS BF and I went to Taco Bell to get Star Wars toys instead, because we're cool like that), but I did go to our Winter Formal. It was middle of December and cold as hell and no one had a long dress on. I assume prom was the same at my HS b/c the dress code was the same. But I've been out of HS for 16 years, so I am happy to admit that fashion choices may have changed.

Gretchen followed the next season by Anya's win was enough for me. Now, I just tune in from time to time if I remember.

I really like Michelle. I'd totally hang out with her IRL. Daniel is the one with the 'stashe, right? I want to love him because of that stashe. H is pulling for him because a "mustashe like that deserves recognition" lol. His early work was excellent, but lately, meh.

We both still watch. Sometimes it's legit good, sometimes it's a hate watch. We're interactive tv viewers and talk through/at the whole thing.

H's first real girlfriend was a contestant on the show. She didn't last terribly long, and I wasn't impressed with her persona, but I met her later, and she's legit super cool. She was one of those true artsy types who didn't watch tv and had no idea what she was getting into. She just knew a previous winner who'd nominated her. She had nothing good to say about the show
