Hi Fox, I remember you asked about the HC towels a few weeks ago, and I told you ours had gotten a little stiff and I was going to try some different laundry techniques. I ran them through with very light soap and a vinegar rinse, which helped a little. I did that again the next time they went through the wash and then ran them through the dryer with a Mrs. Meyer's dryer sheet, which I normally wouldn't do, and it really seemed to work. They seem to be back to their thickest and fluffiest. Just thought you might like the update if you haven't purchased yet.
Tip on washing towels and sheets, NEVER use fabric softener (sheets or liquids) on them. The chemicals in the fabric softener flatten the loops and makes them non-absorbent.
I've read this a million places and my friend is a manager at BBB and they are trained on this so that people don't ruin their purchase.
Yeah, I do know that. But it's the only thing that fluffed them back up to like-new. I don't plan to make it a habit, but once a year or so I'm going to do it if it makes them feel new again!
You shouldn't use a dryer sheet all the time but we do occasionally to make them fluffy. adding a little bit of dawn to a load will cut the softener build up and they will absorb again.
