I just tried the "self clean" and it is like new! Why have I been wasting time scrubbing it? Stupid question, I was a little afraid of the self clean feature. I had images of my house exploding in a huge fireball. But wow, it is a miracle worker.
My only problem is that I needed to do this in the winter when my house could have used the heat that was radiating from that thing.
Self cleaning ovens are great! Given the choice, I'd pick self clean every time.
Just be sure that you run it often enough that not too much is built up between cleanings. If there is too much built up in the oven, it can ignite and burn (so long as it's not _huge_, it'll burn itself out, so no action needs to be taken).
Also, the metal racks can discolour if left in the oven during self-cleaning, so it's best to remove those first.

I loved having a self cleaning oven in the apartment, but unfortunately the beautiful oven in our house is not self cleaning. It was one thing that made me not want the house. Isn't that sad!
