That yarn is gorgeous! Glad you're off to a good start. BTW, lifelines are your friend for lace. You probably knew that already, but I learned it the hard way.

It's a thread you run through the stitches so that if you have to rip back, you can rip back to that thread rather than tinking back endless rows or starting over. This explains it much better: www.heartstringsfiberarts.com/lifeline.shtm I usually put them in every few repeats, more of less depending on how difficult the pattern is for me.
