I posted when we adopted Charlie, he apparently had a UTI and some other issues that the rescue paid to correct. I woke up the second night he was here to howling and peeing blood.
Anyway, he became gassy and was using the carpet and various surfaces as toilet paper. So another vet visit, this time to my vet (yeah). She put him on an all wet diet (EVO), fiber and probiotics to reset him (meanwhile he is trying to chew into the dry food bin). The fiber gave him insane diarrhea, I mean he was sitting next to me, stood up and while walking poop just came out. So we stop the fiber and it clears up in 2 days. It started again this weekend! I have no clue what is going on and I am so sick of this cat and his issues. I can't even bond with him b/c I am too busy giving him meds for something or putting on gloves to clean him.
I have to pick up an anti-diarrhea medication today and I really hope it works. There is nothing nastier then cleaning poop smears off your carpet several times a day and washing down a really strong cat. Add foaming rinse less shampoo to the list of things to buy.
If you made it this far thanks for letting me vent. He's not our first cat so I know it will get better (I hope) but starting this way sucks!
That sounds really rough! Your karma should be through the roof for dealing with all that -- once he's well, Charlie should be the world's best cat! Hope things start improving fast.

I'm sorry there's so much trouble at first I hope you can find the right combination that works for him!
Evo wet is a great very high quality food - however, it is VERY rich. It just doesn't agree with some cats. Maybe you could try a slightly lower quality food like Wellness that might be better for your cat's delicate digestive system (it's still a good food, just not as rich).

Aww, that’s no fun. I have no advice to give, but I hope it gets better soon. I had a cat with bladder crystals & a cath for a few days. When he came home, it took him a while to regain his ability to control his urine. Poor little guy would walk about & pee would dribble out. Not cool. The worst was if you picked him up. The pressure on his abdomen was too much & pee again. I literally moved him around by holding a paper towel to his butt. He’s all better now!!

Aw, I hope he gets better soon. I'm sure he feels terrible.
FWIW, we were having recurrent issues with our cat. We switched him to a raw diet (we buy premade frozen) and it was seriously like a miracle. He has had zero problems in over 6 months now, whereas before he was having monthly flareups. Might be something to look into.

We've had him for 4 months now, so we have tried a few different foods. The vet seemed to feel that EVO was our best bet, I was doing Wellness before for the same reasons mentioned and I might try it again. I am just so over this. I woke up to smears on the landing, hardwood floors, dining room chair, blanket and DH's jacket fell off the rack and got smeared. It is so disgusting I cannot stand it. Currently deep cleaning everything (again)!
We had a cat with allergies that I gave injections to for years and then when he got a brain tumor this summer I gave injections for pain, I can deal with medical issue but fecal matter is just disgusting. I really think after seeing the medical records the rescue adopted him out before he was ready. I didn't realize that at our first vet visit b/c it was their vet (which sucked). My vet pointed out all the things still healing and inflamed, he was clearly not ready for adoption. Ugh.

Oh and I have Instinct raw frozen, we were using it more as a treat. At the moment we are not b/c we need to make sure his diet is simple and the same. I don't want to make matter worse but the thought has crossed my mind more then once.
Augh - I'm sorry you are going through this whole mess, literally.
You can add DS's bed to the list of messes. DS forgot to close his door and the cat used his comforter for tp. The medicine needs to work soon!!!! I don't understand how he doesn't have some sort or bacteria, I mean it is getting worse not better since we adopted him. Shouldn't it get better not worse.
