My only caveat to the awesomeness of Hourglass is that I've discovered that I have to use more than a single pump (more like 1/5 pumps) if I want it to last longer than 8 hours.

Cheapskate checking in: Rimmel makes one I like. I was shocked at how soft, matte, and pore-less my face looked. My makeup went on so smoothly, I was disappointed I hadn't tried it sooner.
Hourglass really is awesome. I haven't tried a lot of the products listed here but we just got back from a quick trip to NYC and Hourglass kept my makeup looking good for 12 - 14 hours at a stretch. Smashbox was my favorite for years and now I hate it compared to Hourglass. It's totally worth the high price. But if I were looking for a cheap one, I would probably try the Rimmel and the Monistat.
And if you do end up wanting to try Hourglass, you can always return it if you don't like it.

I haven't had luck with a primer that beats the oil, but i do use Smashboxes photo set finishing powder after i do my foundation. I haven't had to blot my face mid afternoon since. HIGHLY recommend.
