I'm pretty sure I have extensor tendonitis in my left foot, it started irritating me two weeks ago after a twelve mile run, and it seems like it isn't getting better. I ran a 10k this past weekend, and it is painful, but not horrible. I've been doing RICE as best as I can between chasing the three kids but my question is what do I do for the next two weeks? I'm training for a half marathon April 7th, and was hoping to do an 11 or 12 mile run this upcoming weekend and at least a 10 miler the weekend before the half. Everything else I've read seems to say to stop activity to let it heal completely but I obviously can't with the half coming up. Is it bad to keep on running?

I am pretty sure that mine is posterior tibial tendinitis. It was annoying for a month and a half or so and I kind of just ignored it. Then like 4 days before my feb half (princess half) it was awful on the track and I was petrified I wouldn't be able to finish the half. I took it easy that night and about 8 miles into the half it was bad but I finished. For two weeks after that I rested and iced. I've also been using KT tape- hey have a tape method for the tendinitis that I think has really helps me.
Just ran another half Sunday without any real pain during the run. I'm still icing and taping though as a preventative.
Foam roll the heck out of your calves, and rest. If you keep pushing through your training you will hurt yourself even more. Your race is in 3 weeks...taking some time off won't hurt. Prioritize foam rolling, stretching, and icing.
I'm pretty sure it is what I'm dealing with now. I haven't been to the doctor yet so I'll hold off on giving advice, but it seems to be an injury that is hard to shake. It has been months for me. I've taken a week off here and there and lowered my mileage. It feels okay for a couple weeks and then starts to get achy again. It is better when I use Rock Tape or KT Tape, but not a permanent fix. Good luck!
Just wanted to add that I feel you on how it is hard to completely rest it with 3 kids. I live in a townhouse and the constant up and down on the stairs is not helping. I hope I'm not doomed to deal with this forever.
