It means that he has to say it because he's a doctor but doesn't really mean it. At least, that's what I'd take from it.
I really agree with this. My RE tells people to stop drinking after ovulation was detected, after IUI, or after embryo transfer. Aside from that he's not too worried about it as long as it really isn't excessive, and what you've said here isn't excessive.
Have your wine. Staying chill is more important than cutting out all alcohol.

My RE had me go completely cold turkey for the whole cycle once we started seeing him. His rationale was that since we are unexplained he wanted me doing absolutely everything I could. His main concern was dehydration before ovulation. He is hardcore though, I just had my first Advil in nearly 18 months last week.

No advil? Ugh. Right now I'm cold turkey on everything from ovulation to CD 1 but then I want my advil and wine. I guess I'll be cutting that out too. I think I'll go to 2-3/week for now.
I think it depends on what your issue is. My RE had me cut all alcohol because we were trying to create the "perfect ovarian environment." I also cut bad carbs, he told me bottom line is that sugar and your ovaries don't mix so if that's something you are worried about I would follow his advice. If your problem is something DH related I wouldn't give it a second thought.
What does he really mean? Cut out one glass a week, right?
Day 2 and I'm already grumpy about it.
I hate vague medical advice.
Can you ask him? I think the standard medical advice on drinking for women is no more than 7 servings per week and no more than 2 on any one occasion. Doctors are trained to believe most drinkers lie about their intake by a factor of about 2. So if you're honest and your doc assumes you aren't an accurate reporter, he may be concerned.

Yeah, it can damage your lining. Regular and extra strength Tylenol are fine, and baby aspirin ONLY if they prescribe it to you (this wouldn't really help with pain, anyway). That's it for pain killers. And none of the 'extra' Tylenols, like the ones for colds.
I don't think he's saying it just because he thinks he has to. Recent studies show that even moderate alcohol consumption (5 or fewer drinks per week) corresponded to decreased rate of conception.

Adding to the Advil/Tylenol conversation... My ob (not RE) gave me a handout when she wanted to start me on clomid that ruled out Tylenol too. She said they can inhibit the effectiveness of the clomid.
Not sure if the same applies for injectables but I am continuing with that rule. I've used ice packs and heating pads for headaches and back pain.
I started acupuncture last week and am hoping to get off my Claritin too, though that's a tough one given that I'm allergic to everything that blooms and grows this time of year.
