Sorry if this has been discussed before, I'm not usually on this sub-board.
I thought dry shampoo would be good in an I-don't-have-time-to-wash-my-hair-today emergency. Instead, I ended up with a rat's nest on my head and had to put a head scarf on. I could have skipped the dry shampoo and used the head scarf anyway.
Is there something I am doing wrong? Does it depend on the brand? This was Garnier, so cheap drugstore brand. I mostly bought it to use on my bangs, since they look greasy before the rest of my hair does. It works ok for that, but is terrible to use on my entire head, apparently.
Forgive me if I'm covering things you already know, but I'm just going to start at the beginning. When you say your entire head looks bad, you mean you sprayed it over your all your hair? The dry shampoo really just should be used were you need it - the roots (and in your case bangs). Apply smallish (not super small, just not a lot), into those areas, let it sit, and then brush "out" with your fingers or a brush (really just makes it start disappearing). If there is still oil, add more. While called dry shampoo, you shouldn't apply it all over like a normal shampoo.
For drug store ones, I prefer sauve, it has better disappearing ability (what you really need). But I prefer Blow's dry shampoo the most, and recommend it.
Thanks. I only put it on the roots, but when I combed it through, it was a mess. It just looked all powdery and weird. Maybe I used too much, or maybe Garnier just sucks.
I just use it on the roots (where my part is and by my hairline). Then, I brush through it and blowdry, if needed (in case I'm too heavy with it to get rid of the white). It works great...I use Suave's Keratin dry shampoo.
It might be that you used too much. I've never tried garnier, but it's easy to overdo it & end up with a powdery residue. Try flipping your head upside down & blow drying the roots. That sometimes helps the whiteness go away.
When I use dry shampoo (and I use the Suave kind), I spray with dry shampoo before attempting to style. Since I sleep with my hair up, I take it out, brush it, spray, let sit while I do something else (like put on makeup) brush/comb again, then style, usually by blowdrying the ponytail ridge/kink out.
