has anybody tried this? i don't ever go to starbucks cause i don't really spend money on coffee--but i have a tully's near my work, and my work gives out tully's gift cards, so i go there on occasion.
i've been seeing lots of ads for the hazelnut macchiatto, and it looks awesome. i LOVE hazelnuts....i asked tully's if they can make one, and they said yes...but it confused the cashier, and then it confused the barista. they ended up making a hazelnut latte, and i'm super disappointed. there was a long line, and after two different people asking me how i wanted it, one other person came by and was like "you just want a latte with hazelnut, right?" so i gave up and just said yes. they had asked me if i wanted a caramel macchiatto with hazelnut *also* and i said no, because i don't *think* that is how starbucks is doing it....any idea? i want to know how this would taste.
I get the feeling there isn't a huge difference between a macchiato and a latte at Starbucks, except in how it's made. But now I'm interested. Maybe I'll go get a caramel macchiato and a caramel latte and see if there's any taste difference at all. (And a hazelnut macchiato and a hazelnut latte).
yeah, i know they're really similar which is why i just gave up...the macchiato typically has just a little more foam on top, and the coffee/flavor is put on top to drip down....i think...i'll go read that wiki.
but yes, please go taste-test all of these for me and tell me the difference.

If I survive the caffeine overdose (even if it's 'just' decaf). I might do at least the caramel one today, since I prefer caramel to hazelnut. I need some kind of treat to make up for the fact my phone is still dead. I'm just grateful all my photos and videos are backed up on the windows cloud.
A caramel macchiato is vanilla syrup, milk, foam, espresso shots poured over the foam (that's the macchiato part) and caramel drizzle. - signed the former Starbucks manager/barista
My guess is that the hazelnut one is the same, but with hazelnut syrup, and some sort of hazelnut drizzle. Just a guess, as I've never made, or had one.

Yes, ditto, yes. I tried one when my CWs dragged me on an afternoon coffee run. It was good, for Starbucks (I'm not the biggest fan of their coffee). If you love hazelnut, you'll love this. I'm not sure if it's still going, but when you order a hazelnut macchiato, they're giving you a card for another one (OR a caramel macchiato, if you prefer) free. So I'd say it's worth trying.
I haven't been 100% dairy free, I've always had stuff like butter still (and I guess that's it), but I think minimal amounts in syrup would be okay.
Ah. Ok. Cause even trace amounts of butter seem to affect Thor. Like a lot of chips have dairy in them. And I think he's also goat cheese sensitive. ._.
Yikes I'm sorry, that's rough. I was thinking I occasionally eat gold fish crackers and sour cream flavored chips with no issue
