Sorry you have had a rough go of it. I know there are a few girls on here with male factor. I also have a right tube blocked and am doing ivf now after 3 x IUI.
My H has low count and motility also. I don't ovulate every month, and have some stuff out of whack (low progesterone, high prolactin), and recently got rid of a cyst. A bunch of random crap with me, basically. It sucks having issues with both of us because all the cheaper, less invasive routes are basically off the table from the start.
We are starting out with IUI + femara + trigger shot. We'll go a several rounds of that and see what happens. Otherwise its onto IVF.
Feel free to vent, whine, whatever you need to here. Every one has sucky days. I hope things start looking up for you. It takes me a few days to pull myself out of a funk. Be kind to yourself right now!
Welcome! This is a great board. There's a good amount of IF knowledge and discussion, but we're happy to talk about anything random (and need the break sometimes).
We've landed basically where you have. We've been TTC since Oct 2011, with one pg and missed m/c last summer. We've been diagnosed with MFI, with lowlowlow numbers all around. Thankfully, nothing else going on with me. We're just finishing up our first (likely unsuccessful) round of IUI with clomid. The doctor believes we'll need IVF to have a chance at success, but because of the cost, we're trying 5-6 rounds of clomid/IUI first.
ETA - sperm issues are due to vericoceles. My husband had repair surgery several years ago, which didn't help at all. The urologist said that there are no other options to help improve sperm count now.
It's an awful club to be in, but you're in good company.
We have been trying since 8/2011 and are also dealing w/ some MFI. We were initially told that IVF would be our only option, but it is so freaking expensive, we had just been on hold. H has been working w/ a urologist and is on meds to improve his sperm, so they now think we may have a chance w/ IUI. It is a fraction of the cost, so I think we are going to do a few rounds and see what happens.

Ugh, that must be so frustrating. I know IUI is easier/cheaper but the way it was described, for us, is that IVF would be our better shot. I guess we will try IUI but that's so much disappointment you've been through:( Hoping you get a BFP soon.
Yeah, I kind of knew going into IUI that we didn't really have a chance but it is so much cheaper ($350 v $8000) that we couldn't not try it. For my femara cycles (same as clomid) we were given a 5-8% chance of success and for the Gonal F cycle 12-20% so really no chance at all in my mind. IVF has a 55% chance so I'm hopeful. I hope IUI works for you!
I've mentioned my story several times on ML, but I won't presume that you've seen it.
Trying since Jan12. Started having pain mid-year that eventually was diagnosed as a cyst (a 10cm cyst! It was so huge!). Surgery to remove that diagnosed stage 4 endo and and uncertain uterine/mullerian defect; was sent directly to the RE. RE said my endo was so bad, she wanted to me to talk to a more skilled surgeon (who is, of course, out of network). He performed a lap & removed the endo in January. He also diagnosed and resected a very large uterine septum.
I was supposed to go in this month for a sonohysterogram, but I misunderstood which day of my cycle I was supposed to schedule it on and missed this month. That test should determine whether the septum successfully resected or whether I need another surgery.

Welcome! We have been trying sine June 2010. Diagnosed as unexplained. All of our tests have been fine. It was suggested we do iui but for now we have decided no due to cost, success rate, and the fact that it is unexplained.
My story is that DH is "perfect" says the RE. In trying, I've been diagnosed with PCOS and hypothyroid and started on thyroid meds. Had uterine polyps that I had removed but luckily the most painful test ever (HSG) came back OK. We're hoping to do meds/IUI this cycle is I would ever start my period!
If you want to jump into IVF, you might want to check with your insurance. I know mine requires 2-3 failed attempts of IUI first.
We have been trying since Feb 2011. I charted for about a year, and I was ovulating regularly and timing was good. DH's SA showed low morph and motility, but not terribly low. I had about a million tests done when we started with the RE and I have hypothyroidism, PCOS, an arcuate uterus, and MTHFR. I got pg on our first IUI in Sept, but it ended up as a blighted ovum and I had a d&c. Testing there showed everything was fine. Two more IUIs after that, and now we're on to IVF I'm getting ready for my egg retrieval.
Been TTC for a while now, diagnosed as "unexplained IF" meaning everything looks great on all our tests, but we're not getting pregnant. Bummer.
I'm resorting to acupuncture. No joke. I think I actually really believe the guy too. Which is maybe insanity. lol.
It can't hurt! I would imagine unexplained is even harder to deal with b/c you have no known issues or ways to improve them.
I don't think any diagnosis is easy, but there is a part of me that wishes they could say, "Oh, it's X and here's how we approach and solve that problem." Instead it's like, "So sorry, you are part of the 40%, and we can try a number of things but we're not sure how any of them will pan out." I think that's why I am so willing to believe the acupuncture guy. Because he had this solid answer and solution which I loved!
Mofongo, I'm sorry about your diagnosis. We're in a similar situation, where I've got PCOS and DH has very low sperm counts. He was tested about a year ago and they found 5 sperm. Yes, a grand total of 5. He saw a urologist and took some pills for 6 months. And when he retested, it went up to 50. So we're going to be heading down the IVF route too. Eventually. Need to save up for it. IF fucking sucks.
We're officially unexplained but DH's sperm count seems to teeter on the edge of normal and below normal. He has another SA next week. We've been trying since Dec. 2010 and have at least 6 femara cycles with TI, 3 femara+ trigger+ TI, and 1 failed femara+trigger IUI under our belt. If DH's count doesn't improve we'll likely be looking at IVF very soon. We can't afford it though so we'll have to take a break.

Hi mofo, good to see you here. Well, not good but you know what I mean.
You might know my story from ML but TTC since Jan. 2011. Diagnosed with unexplained IF, everything is frustratingly 'perfect.' Two failed IUIs with injectable meds and one successful IVF that ended in a loss at 9 weeks. The reason given for our miscarriage was also unexplained. Just awesome.
I hope you are able to see an RE soon and they can help you get success quickly.
Got off bc April 2012 - planned to start trying fall 2012. Went 60 days with no period, bloodwork, did provera. Dr said it could just be messed up because of pill. No period again for 60 days - putting us at about August. More bloodwork and deteremined I have PCOS. October started first round of Clomid and O'd but bfn. Did 2 more rounds with no O. Jan 2013 got put on Metformin and did a round of Femara. O'd but BFN. H did his SA since we decided to take a break. Low mobility, will do first IUI in May. Fingers crossed!
I haven't discussed this all with my mom (long story) but I know she had no issues getting pregnant and I have no sisters.
Hi Mofongo and everyone! I'm new too--I've posted a bit about my IF on ML, but this is the first time I'm posting here. I'm 38 and DH is 46. We started ttc in Oct 2010. Used Clear Blue fertility monitor for 8 months, got stressed with it and then just tried without. We had to stop ttc last year for 7 months while I got some major dental work done. When that's finished, we started seeing an RE last Oct. All tests were normal, except they found a large fibroid that pushes into my uterine cavity. I had 2 hysteroscopy to reduce it. Tomorrow I'll see my RE to discuss what the next step would be.

I'm adding mine at the bottom of yours even though I'm new here too because you are my ML friend...
I've been off BC since January 2011. MC in April/May of 2011. Started actively trying to conceive June 2012. MC December 2012, tubal pregnancy and right tube removal March 2013. All tests so far normal. But I also had a MC about 10 years ago so they want to run a few more tests if I'm not able to successfully conceive within a few months.
