Do you think they are going to pick up three years later, though, like in canon?  That would be a long time of John thinking Sherlock was dead, he might have found Mary in the meantime.  They cast someone who is likely to be Sebastian Moran as well, although I heard that Mark Gatiss's partner (Ian Hallard) played him uncredited in The Reichenbach Fall (or at least, played the sniper covering John).

Well it would be easy to pick up three years later, since it's been that long!, so that's possible. I've forgotten many details from the books so my speculation isn't that good. I need to reread.
