I had every intention of having E in our room for the first six months, but we ended up moving him out at three months. He was ready, we were ready. Up until that point, he was in a Pack-N-Play in our room. Everyone has slept better since, LOL. Some people find the opposite.
Once I got over the "OMG she could DIE in her sleep" mentality I moved her but used a monitor. We also practiced safe sleeping in her crib so I wasn't very worried about SIDS (no bumper, no blankets or stuffed animals, a light fan to keep air circulating).
Ditto. I love our Angelcare video/motion/sound monitor for this reason.

We used the Angelcare monitor but it didn't have the video. Angelcare really is the best...it has very little to no static. All the other brands had horrible reviews due to static noise.
Yes, the audio is amazing. I also love that it doesn't pick up background/white noise at all. Friends of ours love their audio-only Angelcare.

I said less than 6 months, but it was actually like just a little over 3 or 4 months, it's fuzzy now. We decided to put her in her own room once she seemed like she was bothered by our sleeping noises/moving/etc and then we knew it was time she needed to be in her own space to sleep well. This worked out well for us and she has been a great sleeper since.
Of course, by then I'd stopped BFing and J and I were able to take turns getting up to feed her at night.
