So my little sister graduated from high school last week and her open house/graduation party is this weekend. In this area, the parties are on weekends throughout June and the beginning of July.
H is from North Dakota, and they have all parties the day of graduation or that weekend only, so they are all the same time. I thought it would be weird to not go to my feiends' parties. He thought it was weird we had them on various weekends. (we also still debate duck duck goose vs. duck duck gray duck)
So, how is/was it where you live?
To make this relatable, what are your tips for eating healthy at grad parties?
I'm from a small town (grad class of 24 people). The tradition involves a party at someone's farm where the grads get drunk.
Yes, at 18. My class had a split. Half the class went and got plastered in a quanset (with parental supervision). The other half of us rented a hot tub and watched movies. Good times.
WTF is duck duck gray duck? Duck duck goose all the way baby!
This!
If I remember correctly, most of ours were that same weekend. It sucked though b/c we graduated on a Friday evening, I went to my one friends grad party right after and then I had to drive 2 hours to take my college placement tests the next day. Sucked big time.
Ha...gray duck is a mn thing. Instead of saying goose, you say gray duck. Instead of saying just duck, you assign a color or other descriptor to the person, such as polka dot duck, green duck, then gray duck.

So grad parties here are a family affair...no drinking for the kids. Family and friends go to the graduates house. Food is served all day and people come and go.

I'm from a small area (Upper MI) and our were spread out over a few weekends. They generally started a week or two before graduation and went through late June. They were family affairs that definetely included drinking. Normally a big food spread where people could come and go all day.
I'm from Iowa, graduation parties start in May and end sometime in June. I'm going to my cousin's this weekend. Typically, in our area, you invite family, neighbors, neighbors family, friends, neighbors of friends... etc.
honestly, i dont remember. i dont recall going to lots of parties, so i guess we all celebrated with our families right after graduation. im pretty sure it wasnt even that big of a deal.
